    I've cracked dozens of coins in many different holders, including numerous rattlers and at least one doily.

    I sent a 33S walker in a 64 rattler holder to NGC for 'conservation' and grading because it was hazy....it was ~10 years ago, and I still regret it.

    I don't see the big deal over holders. If I see a coin in a doily that I need for my variety set...in it goes for attribution and reholder. And rattlers are an automatic reholder......hate those.

    Shame on me; I once dipped out a group of certified gold coins, they sure looked flashy under the surface of the fluid until the surfaces were patted down. Most of them downgraded.
