What do you guys think of my new acquisition?
One Dime from 1856 Large Date.
I'm from Portugal, and I'm starting my collection of US coins.

I would move it away from any staples as they can scratch the coin. It is also good to take picture of the coin out of any plastic.

Yeah, I know, buddy.
I still do not have the coin in my hands, I bought it from a colleague who brought it from Spain.
This week when I have it in my hands, I'll take it out of the bin with stamps and put it on one whit "glue" not stamps.

Looks pretty shiny/sanitized from those photos. I think it's been cleaned along the way (see upper reverse field).

What would be the value of this coin?

I'd think $30-$100 depending on if/how much it is cleaned....and how much/if any luster remains.

I find that many countries around the world, including several in Europe, clean their coins and don't find it to be a problem.....I agree that it's been cleaned which we think is a no no for US coins.

In Portugal whe do not clean our coins..
Its a "CRIME", but some peolple do (((
