Looks like glue to me as well. Stick her in some acetone.

spit out hunk of chewed candy?

Acetone will likely be helpful no matter. It certainly is not Mint made if that is what you are asking.

are you sure it is not just something on the inside of the plastic?

    could be lots of things

an acetone dip (not wipe) might remove it.

    try the acetone dip.

if the substance is in contact with the silver, over time it may cause some unwanted oxidation / discolorization there.

Yep...this should get an acetone bath... that is an organic substance and should be removed. It could cause serious surface problems later.... Acetone will not harm the coin .... use an alcohol rinse followed by warm, running water afterwards....Cheers, RickO

I'm with the rest. Glue. Acetone should take it right off.

@Kkathyl No problem! Every single one of us at one point had to learn too(and we all are still learning each and every day). With the acetone, what I do get a new canister from home depot so the acetone wasn't contaminated from previous use. Always make sure to put the coin in a glass bowl because it will eat through plastic. Once I feel that the crud is off the coin, I take it out (by the edges using my fingers) and then I have two bowls filled with distilled water. Drop it in the first bowl, take it out and then drop it in the second one. I then take it out and pat it dry with a paper towel (do not rub).
