In fact I find it impossible to be grumpy when viewing a nice gold Saint!

Yes... viewing some nice gold - be it new and shiny or old and crusty - imparts a warm, pleasurable feeling. Looking at a stack of gold coins is even better....
Cheers, RickO
Yes, I have to agree with you it is mood changing
Gold does that to people. I work closely with the Dahlonega Gold Museum as a volunteer expert and whenever there I always carry a one ounce gold eagle with me to use as a prop. It is 100% guaranteed that when I place the gold eagle into the hand of a patron two things happen. First they always smile
, and then second they say something to the effect that the coin is much heavier than they anticipated.

Yep. Collecting Coins tend to do that! I remember, when I had my collection of Morgan's in the PCGS holders in the PCGS Case container. My highest amount were just about filling that 20 piece container. 19, I believe? All different Morgan's at the 64 Grade. Glancing at these did make me feel pretty good like you're talking. Since then, I did sell all my Morgan's, though. Thanks for having me remember!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Yes sir. Once in a while I'll break out my coins and check 'em out. It does put me in a better mood as sometimes I'll even "find" a coin in there that I forgot about! Kinda nice gettin' older in that respect. Soon I'll be able to hide my own Easter eggs
Although mine are locked up for security, I do have them imaged so I can check 'em out. There times that you just cant beat the feeling of them "in hand".

I keep a roll of well circulated Morgans on the desk. Run through the dates once a week or so.
Nothing better than taking my 7070 and occasionally pulling the coins out to just hold them. Nothing feels better than a heavy $20 gold piece in your hand. Nothing better.
Its one of the few ways we can go back in time and hold and own something a hundred years old or more. They are timeless in a way. Something that went through history!! And now we are the caretaker. It will hopefully be held by someone a hundred years from now. To cool..!
Some times its like seeing old friends...
