Proof seated dollar stolen
A dealer a couple tables down from us at the Oklahoma Numismatic Association show had a proof seated dollar stolen from his table today. If you see this coin please send me a PM and let me know, and I will contact him. The link below is from the Heritage Auction where he got it from.

By God I'd be mortified..
Oh man, I'd like someone to try to sell that to me....
bob:(
Is it me or are these some of the most deft, slight of hand, bold and gutsy criminals there are?
That's a shame and I hope they're caught.

Thats horrible. Sometimes when reading these things I wonder how this could possibly happen but after a few years of doing shows it doesn't surprise me any more, and I actually wonder how it doesn't happen more.
Hope the dealer retrieves the coin.

I hate theives.!.!
This show was not all that busy. I don't see how this could happen.
It is a shame that dealers have to watch collectors so closely.
I know that some dealers have sticky fingers, but there are more collector with sticky fingers than dealers.
What is also sad is that some collectors see this and say nothing.
My guess is that there could have been more than one person involved with the theft.
I was there this morning and it was not overly crowded...but...some people.

Are they dealers, collectors, or thieves?
Are there many cases where collectors have been proven to be thieves?
I hope the coin is found and the thieves are apprehended.
Have not been to a show in a couple of years but have always been amazed how lax dealers can be with expensive items. We ain't in Kansas anymore and not every collector is a collector. Thieves are rampant in all walks of lives.
When I was in the retail jewelry business we kept an eye on every piece of value. Protocol was established to make sure that every valuable item was accounted for. Maybe they could walk off with a pair of $30 earrings but a $1000 cocktail ring was not going anywhere........let alone a $10,000 diamond.
Something at this price wouldn't be place on top of the table or leave unattended. And it is also too low of value for a team of con to chase after. I don't see it possible unless the dealer dozed off or a claim of insurance fraud.
Man, that's sad. However a distinctive coin that should be easy to spot if... when... it turns up.
I absolutely hate thieves .... I have no idea of the circumstances around this theft... certainly it is always risky if one person is running the table and three or four 'customers' want to look at coins.... Very sorry to hear of the loss... it always hurts...Cheers, RickO
