Coin club raffle win

SkyManSkyMan Posts: 9,598 ✭✭✭✭✭

Here's an NGC MS63 1946-S Walking Liberty I won in a raffle at my local coin club. The images are by Bob Campbell, and I think he did an excellent job.

I have an idea what held this to a 63, but I'd like to hear your opinion.

I am guessing a weak strike. Otherwise sure looks like a gem from here.

Nice Walker. How many tickets did you purchase? I seem to get pretty lucky just buying 10.
Here's the last coin I won a while back... I always try to pick something I wouldn't otherwise purchase for my collection.

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

With regards to assorted questions, I would guess that the strike is what held it to a 63. There are some nicks and dings, but nothing major. I would not have been at all surprised to see the coin in a higher graded holder.

I purchased 20 tickets at a dollar a ticket. I also won a raw (MS65+) 1976-S silver Washington quarter. It was a good night.

MD, I can only see the "script" for your images, I can not see the images themselves.

I like it especially for what you paid!

Might come back in a 64 holder another trip in, but the 46-S comes way better struck than the other S mints of the decade.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.
