Hidden 'treasure'

Looking for something else, I saw a red intercept shield box on one of the top shelves of my closet. Pulled it down and got a huge surprise - coins and silver from my desk when I moved from Spokane almost a decade ago.
Lots of junk that I acquired over the years - apparently I threw all my mistakes into a drawer along with cheapies that I bought at local shows

Good material for the "Tradedollarnut 2" collection.
Great closet find, always fun to discover misplaced treasures. Those are very nice additions to most collections.

Sometimes looking through your box of crap, can yield an unknown surprise.
I found a rare 8TF VAM recently going through my misc raw Morgans that I didn't realize at the time of purchase that it was anything special.
TDN, this shows your collector roots really run deep, especially compared to some of the amazing coins that you have purchased in the last 10 years.
I like your bodybagged trade dollar.
Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]
Wanna sell the Peace $ ? lol Or the toned ASE ?
Nice pile of "stuff". I saw that 76 twenty right off. Some pretty coins in there.
That was a fun mix to view.
I really like that Proof Merc.

Ok then, time for a giveaway.
For me, it's comforting to see that, like most of us, you learned the hard way and paid your dues along the way. I wouldn't wish the school of hard knocks on anyone in coin collecting, but it does seem that in coin collecting, as in life, we learn a lot through our mistakes and losses.

bought it at pikes market?

Knowing the caliber of coins that you own and then seeing this group that you've picked up along the way convinces us that you have a true love of coins, beyond looking at coins as investments.
It's great to be part of this fraternity that has members with such a range of numismatic knowledge and diverse financial levels to share a common passion.
Forgot to add, nice coins
Nice to cast your eyes of that stash long forgotten.

Good stuff, I'd remember if I misplaced a proof Merc

Any story behind the damaged 1825 Central American Republic coin? Is it an 8 Reales?
I think we ALL have a box like that....somewhere. The variance will be the quality of the crap IN the box.
(Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure mine says something like, "As Seen on TV" on it.)
Added: One of the "Unknown Numismatic Rules" I'm trying to confirm is that, "Everyone is required to own an 1938-D Buffalo Nickel at some point in their life". This appears to be one more vote in favor.
I can't believe you own a Roosie Dime. I'll look at you now in a whole different light!

I usually find my "lost" finds when I move and have to remove my desk from my office. Over the years lots of trinkets fall off the desk and get trapped against the wall.......fun to move! Can't wait!!
Nice finds there on that top shelf!
bob:)
Me too.

Fun junk!
High quality "junk"
I have two coins that TDN could use as upgrades. Who woulda thunk?
Those Trade dollars would be a nice beginning to a Dansco set and the silver Eagle has beautiful color and luster.
Meh, spend em.
Environmental damage/ corrosion
I just re-used old auction flips to store coins sometimes. But it's turned in the last decade in the flip. Has nice steps tho
