    There's a big jump in those from VF to XF to AU, it helps to have a nice PCGS AU as they can be stricter.

    Honestly, I don't know where that comes from, tis a gorgeous CBQ and nuthin' wrong with it - there is no way anyone knows its history as well as you claim to.

    Aren't we all just offering up our opinions. I am explaining what I believe see via a photo, rather see it in hand since grading from a photo is literally impossible but I opined the way I did because I see brighter white center, toning on the peripheries and al lot of spots on the obverse and less on the reverse. First thing that comes to mind is a previous owner might have tried to dip and remove the spotting in an effort to make the coin more attractive and more valuable. Have you ever heard anyone doing such a thing in bygone years. Then sticking it in a paper bound album to tone up again, is that so hard to believe?

    Have you ever dipped a coin? I can promise you they don't look like the lovely example above once you are done! Nice coin!

    It might be the pictures, but +1.
    Too many people fawn over peripheral toning. Pics definitely suggest its been dipped before, probably more than once.

    I must be missing something here. I would walk a mile with bare feet on crushed glass to have a Bust Quarter that nice. Congrats .

    So you are saying that 'people fawn over peripheral toning' in a way that it is implying that is bad? Hmm.... I would suggest that many think such gorgeous toning that this piece exhibits from the edges to the center makes this coin dripping with eye appeal and something they would like in their collection. I would.
