PCGS - Trump/Pence Limited Ed Sets with Colored Gaskets....

Has PCGS done this with other Prez/VPs in the past ? I dont remember ever seeing something like this before...

Is this a private label deal ?

And they all grade 70. Interesting.

I just expanded the plus sign under the 2017 Silver Eagles and was lucky I didn't have anything in my mouth to spit out. Unless I miscounted, there are as many variants of 2017 Uncirculated ASE packaging as there are years that ASEs have been made!

I'm just trying to figure why someone would use the disagree button in a post that only poses questions. Whut ?
As for the special labels, I'm sure that a single enterprise got a special rate for 5,000 coins (10 monster boxes) to be graded at one shot. Maybe that has some bearing on the slow pace of all other turn around times for the past six (?) months.

It's 5,000 three coin sets for 15,000 coins, 30 monster boxes. Not counting any not making MS70.
Your guess that this may have a bearing on turn times seems entirely plausible.

Saw them listed as pre-sale with MCM, red, white and blue gaskets, 2017-S Proof ASE's, 70DCAM, FDOI, $899

Whoops, looks like they're no longer pre-sale status, as they are live now.

    I'll come up with something.

I have no problem with our host commemorating the inauguration of a new president. I'm guessing that a private person or company commissioned PCGS to produce these special slabs.

    Label Market Makers at Work.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Can't they get the facts right? And did you see the website's description of the Walking Liberty obverse design, mentioning a bundle of branches while ignoring the American Flag in the design???

Not something I would collect, however, I am sure there is a market for these.... I equate labels with tarnish.... to me, it is zero added value..... anything beyond the coin is like wrapping paper on a gift... nice, but easily discarded in favor of the content. Cheers, RickO

Wow... if they really want to slap a label on it to make it more marketable, what they really need to do is put some characters from the movie "Frozen" on it. That seems to be the go-to image to sell just about anything.

Thank you PCGS for issuing these labels letting me know how special these American Silver Eagles are as a numismatic treasure. I would have missed it without your efforts.

If you're a sophomore writing a term paper, sure. If you're a grad student and you've just finished your first draft of your thesis, sure. If you're working for the US White House doing PR work and you can't even bother to proof read your post, then no...completely unacceptable. There's a level of professionalism that should automatically prevent such things. I mean, come on, the irony of such a typo when posting about the sec. of education is particularly telling of everything associated with this unfortunate chapter in American history.

    "Bundle of Branches"?

Sounds like a perfectly plausible Trumpian Description. As for the American Flag? I doubt that they even "see" the American Flag.

But, as I stated earlier, "Label Market Makers at Work" and I assume that, like the Obama supporters, there are Trump/Pence Supporters that wish to commemorate his election. But, it's just not for me as all I see a three one ounce silver bullion pieces wrapped in purty packaging and christened as First Strike™!
Surely these will be more valuable than Washingtons campaign buttons in just a few short years!

Yes. The coins were struck under a law from the 1980s that had/has no relation to either of the major presidential candidates. It looks like a money grab for irrelevant specialty labels to me, but whatever makes people happy I guess.
