Coin show newp...

I returned yesterday from a fun trip to a Sacramento coin show with my son. It was nothing but fun from when we hit the road til we came home. I also made a couple of new friends from right here on the forum, Pretty Cyndie and her very cute daughter Sam. We all had a ton a fun and enjoyed a small but great coin show hosted by the McIntosh family. I have a good friend, Andy McIntosh, that I always enjoy visiting with.
So, now I would like to share an incredibly beautiful piece I purchased from John McIntosh. I messaged him and told him I'd be visiting the show and make sure he was stocked up on beautifully toned Buffalo nickels. Well, that didn't work out as I went thru his entire inventory and could not locate a single buffalo I would be interested in buying. That's when John came over and asked me if I want to see the one he brought in from his safe deposit box for me to look over. It was one of those POR "Price On Request" coins. Now if you've been to a few coin shows you know right off what that means. It means BRACE YOURSELF FOR THE PRICE >:) . To make a long story short I bought another beautiful 1925 Buff for my toned collection from John McIntosh. This one is just as pretty as you could imagine. Here tis.......

Thanks for looking and happy hunting and Happy Easter, Joe

Congrats, very nice buff!. I spent about 1.5 hr at the show and bought one MS64 Saint from a long time dealer friend. Most of the dealers were asking crazy prices for their slab gold.

I would be proud to own that coin. The "Weak Five" variety is super rare for that date.

I don't know everything but I do believe that's a strike through. Probably grease.
But if it's variety I am not well versed on this one.
Thank you for the compliment on its beauty, much appreciated.

I agree with your last sentence, at least in my experience! I went to an annual local coin show here in NC with about 35 dealers in attendance. I was looking to buy an AU58 $5 eagle. Well everything that I found graded was marked up well above pcgs guide price!!! And the raw examples were much less, but when I buy gold it has to be stabbed by pcgs or NGC. Mainly because all the fake raw gold floating around out there... and just because my OCD likes pcgs slabbed coins as well!

Sorry to get off topic for a minute.... but that '25p Buffalo is just simply stunning! The obverse is amazing and reminds me of the toning found on some Jefferson war nickels, under the right conditions of course! But congrats on your new pickup... looks like a keeper forsure!

Thanks to all. It was a very fun show. The inventory, this time, was limited. 3 rooms and I visited each room at least twice. Room 3 was where I was most impressed. I was able to sell one of my buffalo nickels at the price I had in my head so I was also happy I pulled that off. The market for the mighty buffalo nickel is alive and well.
I purchased a few coins at a very fair price. But the highlight of the show was finding this nice 25 Buff.
Thanks to all for your comments.
Happy hunting and happy Easter, Joe
