Good idea. Been talked about for years but the TPGS have never implemented it. Guess it has worked in my favor, as cherrypicking them has not cost me much extra.

This. It is a marketing tool that encourages additional submissions/reholdering, and works well when people are flush with money (and remain a bit short on brains). In this environment, I cannot see this working well.

While grading should continue to be open to evolutionary improvements, seems some points chosen such FH and Full Steps may not best represent the focal point of the design. I would rather see a full shield designation instead of a full head for the SLQ. A full portico for Jefferson's Monticello seems a more reasonable choice than steps which are smaller and frankly just not as significant to the design.
Seems that there may not be agreement as to what should be the primary focal point worthy of a designation followed by whether such a designation adds improvement to accurately capturing the state of preservation for coins within a series.

A full braid immediately above the ribbon or complete fur on the bison is much tougher than a split tail. How about a simple full strike? The point above is excellent-you may have a full head but what about that shield? And everything else? One small design element doesn't get it in my book.
On walkers: full skirt lines, full head,
full thumb. These can have any or all. If all then fully struck. And then you need to consider the reverse. Full breast feathers etc, etc.
Quite alot for every body to agree to.
Probably why nothing has been done.
Still my favorite is on the 40's 'S' mints is one I came up with : lobster claw
Love to see that on a slab label!
Some of these designations were picked to help identify a 'full strike' which has many, many points to consider. Whether right or wrong, they have been used long enough that they are 'institutionalized' to a great degree. I agree that there are other indicators, some likely better.... However, it will take a concerted effort and considerable time to implement change such as this. Cheers, RickO
I think it's interesting that we have designations for SLQ's, Mercury dimes, two of the most popular series, and for three secondary series (or less) in Franklins, Jeffersons, and Roosevelts. Yet when talking about two more very popular series, WLH's and Buffalo's, there's a lot of resistance to a strike designation.
'Split Beak' on the Kennedy halve dollars. There are millions upon millions of 1980 era Kennedys where the head of the eagle is more or less a 'blob' and you can barely make out the ribbon being held in the beak while other less abraded dies struck the area into a well defined head, beak & ribbon...in some date ranges, to find one is a challenge.
Being sardonic, you might see these types come around if grading revenues decline. Create a "Full Tail" level, and watch tons of coins come back for re-grading.

Crack'in and Cross'in! Many may likely come back at a highter grade too possibly.

Changes were made to the master die that made a "full thumb" nearly impossible afterward.
How about eliminating full split bands, full steps, full bell lines, and full head. That would be better in my opinion.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

It seems meaningless to me, but I think one of the "stickering" companies came up with something like this. I don't think it ever caught on though.

Shhh. Fully struck Liberty nickels have little to no premium. Dont know if they should be full stars or full corn, but Id rather cherry pick the best.

How about FS for Full Strike. Strike is a qualifier, not a grade.
How about full hair strands for Bust Dollars. Oh, not enough coins to make money for the TPGs? Never mind.
Or a strong middle finger could be a full bird!

There is a certification or sticker company that does this that's been discussed on these forums, but the name escapes me at the moment.
