The Mint announced a competition for the 50th anniversary 2019 Apollo 11 commemorative. More curved coins in clad, silver and gold!

Important dates:
- Applications Open: May 1, 2017
- Application Deadline: June 29, 2017
- Artists Notified if Selected to Submit a Design: July 31, 2017
- Submissions Must Be Received By: September 8, 2017
- Winner Announced: 2018
This should be easy. The moon's surface on the convex side, a transformer on the concave side. Or the moon's surface on the convex side, and Pink Floyd on the dark side...

ohh don't like doing the 5 oz size... can't keep with rest of commemorative coins..

I'd like to see what Chuck Daugherty could do with the design, too.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Unfortunately, the odd designs of these coins are going to cause marketing problems for them.
Why can't they just make silver dollars and half dollars?

If Dan Carr designs it maybe the mint can produce something worth buying
Dan has his 2019 Apollo prototype design overstruck on sac dollars that sold out a month or so ago. They're not curved though. I hope he wins too!
