What is the easiest way to ID an alt or a previously banned member??

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭

One way might be to see who brings up 15 year old threads that they have no connection to. Are there others??

The mannerism in which they speak/type is usually indicative.

Without naming anyone, but just as an estimate, how many alts would you guess there are?

Inane threads are usually a dead giveaway, lol

When they invariably get bammed within their first 30-90 days.....that pretty much seals it.

So, glicker, just a question for you then.......just HOW MANY alts HAVE you had? At least a handful.....probably closer to a dozen, right? All banned but this current one? Maybe one other?

    Al H.

A new member may have done a search for past threads concerning a question they have or a topic that they have an interest in. Rather than start a new thread on the same topic they just post to the original thread.

I agree and I know who you are talking about (actually there are several others) but I was speaking in general terms. If a bammed member comes back under a new identity and behaves himself I don't really care. If he starts breaking the rules again it's easy enough with the new forum software to report him using the flag feature at the bottom of each post.

That is true, but to the OP's question, I think there's no way to tell, because even face to face, a person doesn't really know another person. Though we are all seemingly predictable, each is unique in their own way.

Alternate identity. Someone who is already registered here comes back and registers again under a different identity.
