eBay sellers- check your bank account

I was looking at my checking account online and saw all these small deductions. It turns out that for my eBay sales PayPal is taking the shipping charges out of my bank account instead of my PayPal account. My PayPal account has hundreds of dollars in it that has been in there for months- so there is no reason to put my balance on hold. I called PayPal and they said it was a known system issue- but no ETA on when it will be fixed or why this just started in the last week. I can see someone getting hit with a lot of overdrafts fees because they keep a small balance on a secondary checking account used for eBay sales.

I had this problem last week and was one of the firsts to call about it.... 3 hours on hold that day
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
Close the checking account and I bet the problem gets solved today.

To fix mine I had to cancel my PayPal agreement with eBay and then fill out a new agreement on the eBay side.. It was a hassle but the eBay supervisor did credit me $25 for my trouble.... Apparently I'm worth 8.33 an hour to them based on my hold time...
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
much shorter than my record, which shall remain undisclosed. thankfully, there is speaker phone.
Ebay is a great place to sell coins. Right ErrorsOnCoins?
Have you tried to change your PayPal's "preferred way to pay online"?
First, link a credit card to your PayPal account. Then click the 5-pointed star ("Make this preferred when paying online").
For me, that stopped PayPal from taking money from my checking account without my authorization.
But rather than charging my credit card, PayPal will first deplete my existing "PayPal Balance".
Anyway, that's my experience... after one month selling on ebay, all my shipping charges have been deducted from my PayPal balance.

Only thing PayPal hit the bank on is my Great Collections buy on monday and I knew that was going to happen.
will keep an eye on thing here then as well. thanks for the tip
I think CoCollector hit the nail on the head above.
I recently purchased some items that were over a thousand dollars. I changed to my credit card to complete that transaction. I switched back but E-Bays software kept returning me to the credit card rather than PayPal. I'm not certain that's resolved as I haven't bought anything lately.
This was only a problem with shipping labels... It had to do with the user agreement about how eBay takes its fees from PayPal... I printed 8 shipping labels before I realized my PayPal balance wasn't changing..
Called PayPal and they didn't see anything, they transferred me to eBay. EBay had me jump through a bunch of hoops... Called the bank and the bank said they didn't see any charges.... Called PayPal and they said that it had to be a problem with eBay... Transferred me to eBay where a supervisor tried stuff and said sorry it had to be PayPal who then transferred me to them and 20 minutes later a PayPal rep told me they figured it out... It was a glitch in the date with the eBay payment agreement.... It was fun !!!!!
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
It took a while but I got them to charge shipping through my credit card. If you get cash back it helps... When paying on ebay I try to get it done through a credit card once again for the benefits instead of a bank charge. Also when paypal was 2.2% for larger sellers I was getting the much higher charge rate, I lost hundreds that way. Bottom line: if you don't care nothing gets done. I wish I had an accountant to go through all transactions to see if I might be getting gypped.
I noticed the same thing the other day. After taking a closer look, it seems that anytime we purchase postage above $50 for eBay shipments it draws from my bank account, even though it is set to only draw from PayPal. For smaller purchases, it looks like it is still being charged to our PayPal account. I will call eBay tomorrow to get the full details, and will share that conversation here.
Glad I do not sell on ebay.... things seem to be getting way to complex....Cheers, RickO

For some reason, I don't have any problems.....
Yep. They now require pictures.
I love eBay and I hate it all at the same time .... I have had minimal of issues with buyers as I try to cover everything in detail... My hate comes from eBay's support and handling of issues that pop up and this is going back to 1998 for me
I should also mention I don't sell a lot for coins... I sell my unwanted or quick flip coins but I mostly sell general estate merchandise that I usually pay cents on the dollar for.
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
Actually I was mistaken.
After a careful review just now, I noticed some of my shipping charges were charged to my credit card.
Apparently that happens when my PayPal balance drops below a certain amount (about $200 for me).

I print my labels with USPS.com
My Paypal account has over $500 and it still deducts straight from by bank account. When i go to the Ebay shipping payment screen it says:
Funding Source
Primary Funding Source
PayPal Balance
So it must be a PayPal system problem.
Try cancelling your agreement on the PayPal side.... Then when trying to print a label on eBay there will be a check box to fill out an agreement since after cancelling with PayPal you don't have one... After filling out the new one it worked fine for me.... I did all of this with a PayPal rep on the phone and it worked right away
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
Sounds good- will try that- thanks!
I had it happen last week, was a glitch according to CS, apparently been fixed now as i have not had the problem recently
Yes, it was a glitch in their system, and has now been fixed.
Thanks for the tip. I just login and did that. I hate paypal take money from my checking account.
