Phone Call from NC asking if I have 1/4 or 1/2 AGE

I have been getting phone call from what sounds like a young woman in North Carolina asking if I have 1/4 or 1/2 Gold Eagles - to purchase - payment by check or mo I would think. Certainly I would not ship something before payment cleared.
I have no idea if it is someone done business w on eBay or not. Seems really suspicious - I mean they could buy them from someone like Apmex. I don't deal in these and the whole thing "May I check with you once a month." Sends a red flag. Why can't they buy these in NC. Considering blocking number seems very fishy.

Have you typed it into Google to see what comes up? That is what I always do, but usually it is a telemarketer or Sirius Radio.
Could be a setup for a robbery. Just say "I don't have any gold or silver. I collect Pokemon cards."
I get that call all the time and know someone is trying to scam me.
You all know what I specialize in.
They never ask for an ounce. Paypal requires signature deliver for that amount.
I've had some calls from "apmex" before regarding my "gold or silver order' and to give a new CC number or bank and routing. How they got my number I'll never know.
I keep 20 bucks in pennies at home just to have something to look at so I guess if anyone was to rob me they'd be out of luck. Well, like 17.50 at coinstar or whatever.. I highly value my free SDB.
If it doesn't seem right ... just move on.

When I get cold calls or emails like what the OP cited, and I can confirm availability, I just stop 'em in their tracks when I tell them I only sell bullion on a cash 'n carry basis in the shop. I get enough trade from locals that I don't even need to haggle with unknowns. Won't consider wire transfers from unknowns either. It's called risk aversion.

I may have received the same phone call today, but I just don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.
I will block them - it wb be tempting to say "have 1000 of each how many you need" then that nite 4 armed hoods kick the door in.
I will look them up on spokeo. It's shocking what somebody can find out.
I don't send anything over 150-200 dollar without signature confirmation. For all I know the package could be left on some guys unlocked mailbox or porch with thieves waiting to steal it once postal truck leaves.
I've received that call forever.
Same MO.
Ask only about 1/2 and 1/4. Want to know how many and then how much.
I think it's just market research at this point as it's never gone farther then that.
I used to receive calls monthly from a company that deals in gold and silver (I think they just went bankrupt or filed anyway)... I finally told them not to call again... they did, once, I hung up. Cheers, RickO
