Something happened....Coin photos coming out a little oblong......

thebeavthebeav Posts: 3,941 ✭✭✭✭✭

I haven't changed any settings, that I know of anyway. The past couple of days, I see my pictures of coins are a little taller than they are wide. I use a Sony Mavica camera and Irfanview to crop and adjust.
Any ideas on what I may have done ?

I just looked at this picture on another computer and it's fine.
On my ebay computer, running Vista, it's ovoid......
This is going to drive me nuts.
Any ideas on that one ?
    Thanks folks.....

The resolution on your vista machine is screwy, or you changed your DPI settings. There is nothing wrong with your image, it's the display settings on your vista machine.

Looks pretty round to me. The below shadow around your coin is a perfect circle.

    I agree with mingot.

Still, this is something I'm always careful about when shooting coins. I sit a small level atop my camera to be sure it is always perfectly square. If the camera isn't then image won't be round, FWIW.

Pixels are usually rectangular. The SW is not making the correct transform.

Yes, that's what it has to be. I can't find the correction though.
I had installed some piece of software last week, and that's when it started.
    I'll try a 'restore'.......

I did the restore and that took care of it.
I did look at display settings, but perhaps not 'aspect ratio'......
    Thanks guys.....I'm good now....
