Dan Carr mintages

When a "Final Mintage" figure is given for a particular issue, that means that no more like it will ever be made and the total mintage is accurate as shown. I watch your blog on mintages very close and I find this is not always true ? I've seen it raise on some coins ?

Yes, it can sometimes take a month or two after the fact for mintage figures to settle out and they can change by a few or up to maybe about 10% in some cases. I have not modified any mintage figures once they are a couple months old, except to revise them lower due to scrapping of existing pieces that were part of the original mintage.
Sure wish you would mint up a few more 1964 peace dollars.
I'm not too greedy, I only need one extra to be minted
Pretty sure I read on his site that those dies aren't around anymore, so it isn't happening!

I picked up seven DC 1964D Peace Dollars off ebay the last three years.
They are not impossible to find.
You just have to decide what its worth to you to own one of the 1,964 made.

I won't disagree with your statement and you know from purchases from me and pm comments to you that I follow DC pretty damn close too . In Dan's defense though , he has never adjusted his final mintage by more than a few numbers .
His total mintages are so relatively small
that even an adjustment is pretty much insignificant.
Now if you are trying to get something that was minted under 10 , well you better be realistic as he couldn't make the dies alone to hardly make it worthwhile unless it was something for his own collection or throwing a bone to his customers .
I've actually had this conversation with him years ago, however we have to accept that he is a small minter and the numbers will reflect this in the long run.
One thing for sure is that if he states in his original listing a stated mintage that it will be that and no more that 5-10% above that stated final mintage and in the majority of cases it will be final .
Peace Coupe ❤
Yep...low mintage.... I have a few of Dan's coins... and missed a few.... Work gets in the way and regrets follow...
I could chase one's I have missed on ebay... might do that at some point... Cheers, RickO
I might be amenable to trading my '64-D for the 1927 Oregon if someone had one.
Could the Moonlight Mint make coins with different die marriages? Like a bust dollar front and a peace dollar back? No date necessary. That would be cool.
Good luck with that. If you thought the 64d peace is rarely offered the Oregon is almost unheard of. If one was offered on eBay it's would make the WLH/ASE look like child's play.
I agree, I've been looking for one for awhile. I'm scared to even think what ridiculous amount I would end up paying.
Gee I fill better about my 1927 Oregon ! reason I say that is the last one I saw on ebay was listed over and over and then sold for issue price ! it was about a year ago
I will buy any Oregon at issue price, and I already have one. IT IS MY FAVORITE OF ALL HIS ISSUES!
Well, just Love coins, period.
I have the 1816 half. So ha ha ha. I did buy the '64 Franklin from a board member, but that Oregon has eluded my clutches.
Here is one !http://www.ebay.com/itm/162484918023?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
Very nice. Unicorns do exist lol. If I had the spare cash right now I'd be all over it.
IMO, aesthetically the best of all Dan's pieces. Essentially a matte proof Oregon Trail, the best of all the classic commem designs short of the PanPac $50. Got one at issue and note a very lovely toning setting in on mine.

jag1940 is awful proud of his/her D. Carr pieces.

I know, right. I see nothing but 'net'.

Not sure of that reference? Is that a three point shot?
A bit like Ricko, I don't sell frequently and not my DC pieces - although I've given a few as gifts.
