1963 10C Proof - submit or no?

Still gathering up coins for my upcoming PCGS submission and being the tightwad I am, I like to send as many as I can all at once and save on shipping. That said, I was wondering if anyone thinks this pup is pretty enough to slab or should I just list it raw?

Not unless it will receive a PR69DC...which I am not sure that it will.

    How about this one?

The 70-D Kennedy would need (IMO) a MS65+ or higher to justify the slabbing expense. The tone should give it a little push on being able to sell, if that is your goal. Ultimately it is up to the submitter.

Yes, all to flip. Strangely, it seems these days that the same coin you can't sell for $50 raw you can easily sell for $120 if it's sitting in plastic. Go figure....

No way the dime gets 69 DCAM...at 68 DCAM it's a $20 or under coin. And it also won't make DCAM based upon the photo.

I would likely consider sending in the Kennedy, but only to get the TrueView image of the toning...since your picture is already pretty awesome...I probably wouldn't submit that one either.

A weak strike on the reverse of the 70-D might hold it back, I know 'as struck' but things are changing in the market and 'eye appeal' now seems to trump 'as struck'

It's up to you, good luck on your submission.

Note: 70-D's are hard to find that are not all beat up, just thought I's throw that in there.

Don't Express, but def have them graded. The Kennedie looks ms67 all-day-long.

The 70 Kennedy might make 66 with luck because of the mark in front of the eye, neck, hair, fields and the reverse shield. Color might hurt it depending. Good luck.

If ABCDE is telling you to send them in, throw them in the garbage can!

They are NOT worth sending in.

ms67 Kennedies of the 1970-D generation sell for thousands. Why would anyone not wnat what is best for the coin and the owner?

Because throwing away money isn't best. I'd love to win the lottery, but buying a pile of tickets is not the best for me.

Only if u need it on slab bus for economy. Allocate your cost of the coins based on MV for grades. The grading fees and shipping I would expense on sch C.

Even a plus 1970-D would be worth cracking and crossing. The key date for any series deserves special recognition.

    No on the dime.
Kennedy--if you feel it's a 6 go for it. Doesn't have enough pop or pizzazz to make 6 in my eyes.
Otherwise, not worth the slabbing fees/shipping.

PCGS has been tough on handing out MS66 or 67 grades on 1970 D Kennedy halves through the years. Of the 3518 graded MS65, I have probably submitted over 100 of these myself trying for a 67! Some I sent in I was sure they would be top pops and I was sorely disappointed. Of the ones I submitted I never received anything higher or lower than MS65. Finally, I quit looking for 70 D halves that I thought would 67.

I would say no on both... sure, you may reclaim slabbing fees when you sell, maybe, but they are not of the level that will command a premium. Cheers, RickO
