1974-D PL Kennedy
I don't know if these PL Kennedy's will ever carry a significant premium- but I sure do enjoy picking these up when I have a chance. From my experience, the mid to late '70's tend to be particularly rare, more uncommon than clad PL's from the early '70's, and much more uncommon than PL's from the '80's, or, '90's in general, up to the present. The beauty of these coins really sets them apart from regular business strikes. Please let me know some of your own experiences in finding these, what ones you believe as rare, and feel free to post any of your's. Thanks!
The 1974-D PL example I picked up today:

Send it off to NGC. They just might give it a PL Designation.
Pffft. I really should read posts before I reply but thats a nice looking coin!
The name is LEE!
Thanks 19Lyds- I see that NGC has given PL designations to the 1971-D, and 1972-D. It doesn't look like PCGS designates PL for this series. Do they only designate PL on series where they are more common? Would be cool if they'd recognize other series that have an occasional PL if that's the case.
good un
Someone who agrees with me. Sent to pcgs instead though as ngc might think it's been polished.
Fantastic coin.
I don't think I have ever seen a 74-D with mirrors that deep, and trust me, I have seen a LOT of them!
NGC will PL them, PCGS will not.
I have seen a few of these.... In fact, I came across a group I picked up years ago and several of these late mid to late '70's have this appearance.... Most, in fact, were proofs, but there were D mint one's in the sleeve as well...Obviously, whoever put them there (cannot remember where I picked up this group) thought they were PL....Cheers, RickO
Quite exquisite coin dude! I would definitely send that sucker in.
