My first and probably bestest show report - Charm City

No, Charm is not a buddy name for the Penny Lady although I did meet her for the first time at the Expo and had a pleasant chat with Charmy. And that is what the locals call B'more. Drove in Wednesday night after slaving half a week for the man and then leaving the roost to the PT-ers for 48 hours. Found some really avant garde accommodations at the Red Lion on East Redwood (brand new property, based out of Spokane, WA) for our trio. I was tempted to heist the petrified wood footstand in the lobby on the way out. Nice accommodations without the typically silly high rates at the Inner Harbor. Ended up Wed. night in a rustic tavern one block over on Water Street (The Water Street Grille of course) where we were greeted by two of the friendliest females of Baltimore's finest - they were on break in uniform, so no funny stuff.
( It didn't hurt though that two of us are ex-cops !)
Fortunately the mild hangover was cleared up by noon on Thursday as the stampede commenced. Had a very productive day with the likes of Doug Winter, CRO, Rob at Reeded Edge and plenty of reconnecting after an absence from Baltimore of 5 long years. It really is special to be remembered by dealers and collectors that are connected by face recognition mostly on the bourse. The highlight of the trip was making the last pilgrimage Thursday night to the original Moe's for dinner, which is being torn down soon for a move to a larger more modern property. Not long after our trio was seated on the ground floor dining room, we struck a great rapport with our server who treated us to a few extra rounds of legal beverages (Beer me waitress !) And all of a sudden the room got real loud. The trio seated at the table right next to us included one guy whom we initially thought was a stereotypical Bronx native. But it became obvious by both his boisterous interaction with us and other patrons that there might be something going on. He almost picked up my plate and took it to his table, 'cause it looked so good to him ! And when the jig was up, he invited us over for a picture. Vinnie "Big Pussy" Pastore (The Soprano's, Good Fellas, Law and Order etc.) was really down to earth and all about having a good time. And we did. That is all.
