OUCH !!!!!!!
:'(
Well now we at least know who the friend was that received a couple from Dan
A bit pricey for one extra fin.
Does anybody know how many were produced and how many were actually used as props in the movie?
“Movie Prop: this coin was not in the actual movie -- graded MS69”
In my mind, it isn't a movie prop then.
I always thought a fin was $5, so it seems like with two fins it should be worth a sawbuck ($10).
Awesome coin! I've been wanting one, thanks for link.
I'd pay 499.99 x 0.1 for that.
List Too pricey for this cheapskate (me)

I think we've found the friend

The coins designed for the movie are second from the bottom on this page .
Looks like about 174 total of all varieties, . The label only states silver variety.
The sellers notes do say THIS COIN WAS NOT USED IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE !
I think Dan stated in the Coin Heist thread that he had given a couple away to a friend , but you would have to go back and read the thread to get more details.
Looks like 83 clad, 47 silver.
Lance.
From Dan's website:
Michigan state quarter concept, 2016.
Obverse: Washington state quarter design based on original by John Flanagan.
Reverse: Michigan fishing scene (two varieties).
Type 1: 1 fin on back of fish.
Type 2: 2 fins on back of fish.
Variety 1, over-struck on US Mint copper-nickel clad Washington quarters (1973-2016 vintage, statehood, possessions, national parks, regular, Bicentennial): 39 minted.
Variety 1, over-struck on US Mint 90% silver Washington quarters (1936-1964 vintage): 5 minted (two medal-turn orientation, three coin-flip orientation, one was widely broad-struck).
Variety 2, over-struck on US Mint copper-nickel clad Washington quarters (1973-2007 vintage, statehood, regular, Bicentennial): 83 minted (one was broad-struck).
Variety 2, over-struck on US Mint 90% silver Washington quarters (1940-1964 vintage): 47 minted (most have medal-turn orientation, one was double-struck, two were Variety 2 struck over Variety 1).
Some have medal-turn orientation and some have coin-flip orientation.
All were over-struck in a cracked collar with a small edge protrusion near the “GA” of MICHIGAN.
It should be listed with the word "replica" appearing after "Prop" or with some other similar wording in the title.
Neither a coin nor a movie prop..
Yes It is a coin... That has been overstruck.
And yes, it is a movie prop... Just not screen used.
It appears that this eBay seller kind of likes to shoot for the Moon .. get it
He's asking $699.99 for a D.C. Lesher token MS68 and a #004 at that.. YOWZA !!
I was searching for the 1965 Peace Dollar as it's been awhile since I checked on their going rate .
I see $399.99 and only one on eBay .. YOWZA !!
I then realize it's the same seller ..:(
I sure hope he gets his prices
Wonder if any of the 1 fin silver with 5 minted will become available!
Pretty cool ghosting of the host coin!

For $500, I'll be anybody's friend.
Super rare. I've only seen this one and I've gone through tons of rolls.
Neat item for those who collect this type of material.... and documented well.... Cheers, RickO
Would cost much more if the movie was any good!!
Don't insult the coin. Price is up to $1000. If you want it, better get it now before it goes up again.
Now that's pretty funny Z
Actually it's at a bargain price of $949.00 for today .. Call Now and get Free Shipping
if it wasn't in the movie ....
thats a crazy price ! but if it was mine thats about what I would want for it
This is true.
So, it was $499 yesterday (didnt sell) and now that there is some discussion about it seller wants a grand?!

Come on Coupe !!
Are you for real ??
It's an issue of 47 that went to certain people , but they will surface eventually . $950 ???
Just because a similar coin appeared in a movie, but wasn't the actual coin ???
Think about all of the multiple different DC pieces that can be purchased for that amount of money .
I truly hope he gets it's it, but it's way overpriced in my opinion even when it was $500 .
Yeah If it was Tombstone and Doc was twirling it on the table and it was the ACTUAL COIN !!
Would I like one ?? Yes
Am I jealous this guy has one ?? Yes
Do I think his prices are astronomically crazy on everything he offers ???? Yes and yes
I guess my point is if it were mine it wouldnt be for sale so thats what it would take if somebody wanted it
Really? I thought two Abes always equaled a Hamilton.......;)
The "it's not for sale scenario I certainly understand ", but if you want one that bad then I would contact Dan , because I can't imagine he would want anything close to his buddy's prices . He may have one that he is willing to let go for a more reasonable amount .
$950 for a 47 minted release
Ohh please !!
to be honest i dont even want one ! just making comment ! ok
Your previous comment was that is it was mine then you wouldn't sell it , assuming you could get that kind of price
ok
I'm confused
Sorry I got involved
Let's move forward.. my apologies
There are piles of these prop coins shown in the NetFlix movie "Coin Heist":
One can count them if one wishes.

I wonder if those are 2 sided reverse coins. It seems like the reverse is up on all the coins!
