That's a BUNCH of chopmarked dollars all in one sale. Looks like a great opportunity for the casual collector to pick up a solid example for a type collection!
I'm addicted to exonumia ... it is numismatic crack!

It certainly is a significant offering: 44 chopmarked Trades, including an example of one of the two keys to the set, the 1878-CC (though it is the lowest net graded example). I've got my eye on that MS-62 73-S, holding onto whatever thinning hope I have it will sell in my price range. A couple of people in the chopmark circuit have expressed concern that the 76-CC Type 1/1 may be a forgery, but are withholding judgement until it can be seen in hand later in the month in Baltimore.
Holy cow - I thought plastic collectors were crazy!
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around paying big money for chopped TD's no matter how many and how rare the date.
I can understand why some might be interested in collecting these, but it is not my cup of tea except for one piece for type.....
Now, if there were such a thing as a cameo chopped trade dollar, that would make my head spin.
I've heard rumors of an 1879 proof trade dollar with chopmarks. Could be cameo, lots of the PR trade dollars are. How it got to China and back is a mystery.

I'm interested in one for type but don't have a clue what drives the value. Is it the date, # of chops, eye appeal, etc.?
