Show Report - Boulder County, CO - March 11-12 2017

The Front Range Coin Club is having its spring show this weekend in Longmont, CO, at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. The show is held in an exhibition building, complete with stock pens outside, but no livestock in them. Hey, this is rural Colorado!
The tables are laid out in the typical ring around the room with adequate aisle spacing, and it looks like all the tables were sold.
I arrived shortly after the 9:00 am opening, and soon the bourse was filled with customers. By 11:00, all of the dealers seemed to have multiple people at their tables and doing a brisk business both buying and selling. The bourse floor was filled until mid after noon, and still a decent crowd was actively buying and selling until I left at 5:00.
As previously commented on, I agree with since this was the first area show since the Fort Collins in December, there may have been a lot of pend up demand. At least for bullion, dealers who are selling at today's $17 level for silver were doing a brisk business and were out of stock on mundane things like common date circulated peace dollars.
I brought some recent low value bulk purchases to sell, and had about a 75%+ sell through rate on the day. Dealers seemed to have fresher inventory too, and made some cherry picks of both slabbed and raw coins. Dealers also seemed to be willing to sell most things at CDN "bid", and buy at a reasonable percentage back of that. I think that "bid" may now the new "ask" for lots of stuff.
This show conflicted with the ANA winter show, so Leo and Shaunda and a couple of other national dealers were not there. But I did have nice and educational talk with Ken Byrd from Colorado Springs.
The show continues today. Free admission and free parking, and a nice crowd of coin gnerds and regular people.

Nice report - thanks for sharing. 75% sell through is pretty decent.
Always good to hear reports from around the U.S.A.
Thanks for the report - I'm guessing Jason Flowers was also at the ANA show?
,
Good report....interesting about the bullion moving... most hold the line when melt goes down... to see if it is a dip or stabilizes....Cheers, RickO
I did not see Jason either - so guessing he was at the ANA. There is another show coming up in 2 weeks in Cheyenne, so maybe he will be there.

Thank you. Nice show report.
I was also in attendance--here is my show report cross-posted from the initial thread announcing the show--I concur with claychaser, there was plenty of pent up demand, myself included. I normally arrive in the early afternoon, as I said in my original post, and the show is usually quiet. Not so this time!
From the other post:
"Attended the Front Range Coin Club show today. I'm not a doorbuster, so I usually arrive after noon at this show.
Managed to get up early and out the door, and after a smooth 45 minute drive, arrived to a bourse floor doing brisk business two hours after opening. For the first 90 minutes tables were full with 2-3 customers per table. This is a show that can be dead by 1pm, but not today. Perhaps the weather helped, as a morning rain/drizzle/flurry meant cooler temperatures and an "inside" day. Historically for the past several years, this March/October show has been blessed with great weather but that also means competition with the outdoors.
Dealer stocks seemed more fresh than when the last show occurred last October. Some good prices on bullion and items in general could be had across several series and other collectibles. Nearly every table was occupied this time around, and almost no dealer was just kicking the tires hoping for someone to pass by. Saw lots of deals/money change hands, both ways, so dealers and collectors were buying.
I picked up a couple items which I'll try to take pics of later. Basically 2 toned Walkers, a handful of gem Buffs, and a couple other items I picked up for a coin gift basket to be auctioned off by a charity.
Stayed a total of two and a half hours, which is long for this show even if you include shooting the bull with friends on the bourse floor. I actually spotted a couple things I may return for tomorrow; we shall see.
There has only been one show in the Denver area since the New Year, so there may have been some pent up demand as well. As a bonus, some individual brought a stack of old auction catalogs, and I managed to grab one from a Goldberg auction in 2009 featuring so many beautiful gold coins.
Today was definitely a happy hunting day. That's all for now. Cheers!"
Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
My iPhone doesn't do the coins justice, however, these Walkers had the best color on the floor:
