Interesting toning on a Walker

Just found this while going through the big hoard of coins I inherited. What do you think she was laying on all those years to get the word Stand on her? i flipped the picture to see the words the right way around.

I've seen this effect on a number of circulated coins that were stored in paper albums. This is especially true for the older style blue Whitman albums that were the trip-fold, cardboard pieces. The front and back pages of these albums have text printed on them and, over time, coins that were on a page that was folded to lay the coin across the text will, on occasion, pick up the text as a shadow across the coin.

I hope that was explained clearly.

First....the design being backwards just looks....WRONG!? I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems to be more than just being reversed from what I'm used to.

Don't know about the source, but it would be interesting to check out older albums for similar text....

Interesting, the reverse has a sort of fabric or lines toning on it. Do you know what older album this might have been stored in?

I would think a tri-fold, cardboard Whitman album as I described previously.

Sunset colors are rare. PCGS should grade that one just to play it safe and to confirm you're right.

The grading fees would be more than the coin is worth.

I would not think that is worth sending in for grading... It is an old Walker that has seen a lot of commerce... I would keep it and self slab it for protection. Cheers, RickO

I wasn't thinking of sending it in, I was just intrigued by the toning. Thank you for all the input, I found that like the penny pictured above the last bit of folded paper has a list of all the different Whitman books and the words Standing Liberty happen to line up perfectly with the spot that coin would have occupied. I also found the coin underneath it with a partial date of 193 on it. All the coins that came out of this book have that same sort of gold / brown toning and a pattern from the cardboard on the back. I wonder how long they were in that book.
