Concealed carry at ANA show in Orlando?

It seems about half the shows in FL don't want patrons carrying in the bourse. I believe it is allowed at Orlando FUN (at least they never have asked me if I am carrying). Does anybody know if it is ok at Orlando ANA? I hate to have to go out and stash in my vehicle.

Obey the law's of the city, county, state and Federal goverments you are in
.
Florida has very liberal gun laws but the convention center may have restrictions.

If it's posted anywhere in that building, anywhere, that trumps your permit I believe.
The rules may be different in the state than the convention center. The convention center rules have the highest authority.

when I used to attend shows in the OCCC, I would carry. YMMV
You need to contact the convention center and ask them. Don't rely on forum replies.
Depends on what you are carrying. Doughnuts and pizza are nearly always welcome. M&Ms and Snickers bars are popular, too. "Free Kittens" are probably not going to be appreciated.
Just don't take it out to show it off and let one rip. Wouldn't be the first time.....
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I email and ask the show coordinator ahead of time to avoid conflict.
Another option is to call security at the venue. (this actually has worked better for me)
I know there is variation from state to state, but if the building is posted as no weapons, you must leave your weapon outside the building.

Concealed mean just that.
As was already stated "don't ask don't tell.
Best that NOBODY can tell and nobody knows.
Never leave a weapon unattended...NEVER!
Now that can be construed in ways I don't EVEN wanna think about!
There has been more than one show where one went off ...
Now that is a big problem. Know what you are doing .
Never let a sign dictate your action...
This may be the reason that coin shows are worried about guns:
On May 1, 2016, a coin dealer discharged a Walther PPK 9 handgun at the Parsippany (New Jersey) coin show injuring another dealer and himself.
The dealer was arrested.

Call the state attorney.... you may get any kind of reply from the convention center... could be an anti-gun person answering the phone..... If it is posted as no weapons, AND that sign has the force of law in Florida (these signs do not have the force of law in all states - if they do not, and you are discovered carrying, they can only ask you to leave)... then you must not carry. I just will not go to venues where I cannot carry... especially when there will be lots of people.... that becomes an open invitation to those wishing to do harm - almost all mass shootings have been carried out in gun free zones. I will not place myself in such a situation where I cannot defend myself and loved ones. Cheers, RickO
I have hunted my entire life and currently own long guns/handguns and live in a State/County/Village which allows concealed carry, however, I don't see any reason for obtaining a permit. I would ask the obvious question --- If you were carrying at a coin show such as FUN or an ANA would you really feel so threatened that you'd draw down on someone and shoot?? despite however proficient we each think we are the likelihood of shooting someone who is just "there" is probably high.
short of a Terrorist type of event, what would prompt you to use your weapon at a Coin Show??
Was at a coin show in Milwaukee in 1979 when a .45 automatic discharged about 10 yards away from where I was standing. Fortunately it happened to be pointing down at the time.
if statistics are to be believed you should probably carry your weapon to a Family Reunion and leave it at home when you visit a Coin Show.
i wonder if you're more likely to get shot by a well meaning, upstanding citizen carrying a gun or a criminal at a coin show.
I wonder if there are ANY incidents where having people armed (vs just the normal security) at a coin show resulted in something positive?
I carry at gun shows. Cash and carry, that is.

ARMC, yes. I believe armed, off-duty Police Officers and security at Coin Shows has a positive affect.
mingot, I think the odds of either are about even.
I have been informed by a retired LEO that there is a clause in the Patriot Act which gives active duty and retired (in good standing) LEO the privilege to carry concealed outside of the state of issue of a CCP. There are exceptions to that, which are mostly a matter of local concern. The boroughs of NY city have a strict prohibition on concealed carry, even for LEO not on active duty for NYPD. Many law enforcement agencies in the Republic have a standard which requires their employees to have a CCP as a condition of employment.

Florida has "reciprocity" and honors CCW permits from other states.
carry a concealed weapon in Florida
"No Gun" signs in Florida do not carry the force of the law unless the type of location is one specifically addressed as a no carry zone by the state of Florida. However, if asked to leave a posted area you are obligated to remove the weapon from the location. The convention center is owned by the city of Tampa and is not specifically designated as a no-carry zone.

What would be the use of a firearm at a coin show? I thought this guy taught us all a lesson: http://www.dailyrecord.com/story/news/local/morris-county/2016/05/09/cops-man-accidentally-shot-parsippany-coin-show/84144812/
I thought that was a mandatory minimum but we didn't hear about a sentence.
There are other weapons less lethal.
Interesting thread as I think many are learning something.
Frankly, I am not worried when I am in the venue. Normally there are conspicuous (and I assume undercover) security present. When I set up at shows, I never felt unsecure.
When I AM worried is going to and from the venue. From my home to the parking lot and the walk to the doors of the venue. Same on the way home. Let's face it, most armed robberies happen while in transit. When was the last time you ever heard of an armed robbery inside a coin bourse? My recollection is never. The crooks know that dealers and patrons are carrying valuable coins and/or cash and they look for the most opportune moment to strike.

it is called "LEOSA" and the retired officer must qualify every year and can only carry the weapon they qualified with.

to carry that a bit more, robberies seem to take place in transit while the coins/vehicle are left unattended. that is an easy and avoidable circumstance.
What major coin shows need is a good sting operation while coins are in transit.

You can go a long way with a smile. You can go a lot farther with a smile and a gun.
I carry as a deterrent ,
It's like a statement best try someone else.
Anyone that has a weapon and I fear for my safety may prompt me to.
Carrying a concealed weapon and using it are two different issues.
Stop
Lol, sad state of affairs... linear mode...
All this and it was a ANA and possibly convention location question.
He's been to fun with a gun. And it sounds like he knows where to have fun with a gun.
I would think about hitting up security but you're the one with the gun.
Dealers carry in Florida because there is more risk. Collectors not really. I would however suggest not carrying the giveaway bag with a coin dealers name when you leave the show. Just stupid idea for a giveaway.
applauding animated gif for a thread fully away from poofing.
In this case it would not be "concelled carry" or it wouldn't be much of a deterrent.
Well I asked one of the armed guards on the bourse floor tooday and he could not give me an answer. He said in Disney (where he has done duty) you absolutely can not, and that they even have gunpowder sniffing dogs prowling. But he did not know the answer concerning OCCC.
Is it safe for me to hit them then?
That bulge is not a large cell phone on my belt.
If you were at ANA today you would realize it is a loooong walk from the parking area to the E Hall in the West building. And there was no security in the parking lot or between the parking lot and bourse entry and it was reassuring that I had my CWP . I will say they had a very impressive and attentive uniformed police officer presence on and walking the bourse, in the rear entry/exit area, and even posted and watching from above the bourse in the glass walkway.
I have no issues with those that legally carry as long as they follow the laws they agree to in order to have a permit. I feel these laws help keep the bad guys in line. I can open carry in my own state but have mixed feelings about the need or safety involved in that. If a person follows the laws in the state that they are in, no one will know that they have a concealed weapon.
Agree. The concealed carry gun is primarily for the long walk from the parking lot to the coin show. Most coin shows are in urban areas with a higher crime rate. The bad guys know when there's a coin show in town and they know where all those rich coins collectors will be. There is far less concern inside the coin show because most of the larger shows have good security and are very well policed.

And the drive to and from. It is not to protect oneself from fellow numismatists or even coin thieves, but rather the meth heads, junkies and ne'r-do-wells. You must reside in a very low crime locale Keets.
Can a dog really smell gunpowder that's inside of a loaded cartridge?
