If you found that in change, I'm calling BS. (Just joking....I'm just envious--I think I have found 1 in my life and that goes back to 40+ yrs. of roll searching.)
Looks like you found a cleaned coin from someone's collection that was spent or stolen.
Owning up to my mistake... after he called BS I checked the coin holders from the coins I bought today and that was one of them. I had a lot of Cents on the table and I guess that one fell out of the book it was in. Whoops

I think it is odd that people can get so worked-up over a coin that is worth a couple of buck$
I think it is odd that people want to suck all the fun out of collecting, and make it all about the $.
I agree--- most all of us here can afford to buy most of the coins we may find in roll searching, but it's about the fun and small thrill of it. It's also about the challenge. If achieving a goal is easy or effortless, the good feeling resulting from it also diminishes quickly.
I found a well worn smooth chocolate brown G 1918 Lincoln Cent in a roll two days ago and I was thrilled just because of the unexpected nature of it. It's fun.
Sure, it's a 10 cent coin on a good day, but that's not the deal.
Finding IHC's is always fun.... even if it is one you owned and misplaced or forgot about.... I like finding coins in the wild... The kid that always searched for buried treasure is still within me .... Cheers, RickO
Congrats. Out of all the different coins I found in the wild, I'm still waiting to find any Indian Cent or even a Buffalo Nickel for that matter. I am more lucky finding Varieties (good ones too) and all sorts of Silver Coins, but not one IHC or Buff.? Hmmm? I guess, I shouldn't complain, huh?

Just 2 days ago I got $30 in rolled nickles from the bank and found 2 buffalos ( dateless and 1934b both brown) and a war nickle( 1943-P also brown) 5 1940's and 7 1950's . I always ask for customer wrapped rolls .
Though not really 'hunting in the wild', I had a lot of fun ~13 years ago after buying out the estate of an elderly retired part time coin dealer. There were many dozens of rolls of wheat cents that he said he and his kids had sorted back in the 60's, apparently only looking for key dates. I could have assembled most of a Whitman folder with all their discards. There were a half dozen 09VDB cents in there, up to VF, along with most other dates and mintmarks, including an altered 14D that really got my heart racing for a few minutes. And yes there were a few low grade Indian cents in there too.

Yep... I remember the story of Oak Island from when I was a youngster... they have been searching for that for more years than I have been alive.... I believe it is far more story than reality... and far more money has been poured into it than will ever be recovered. Cheers, RickO

Leonard Nimoy covered it pretty well in one hour long episode of "In Search of" , now history channel has spent 4 seasons on it and revealed less .

The current History Channel production is more of a staged reality show as I understand it... do not expect anything from that endeavor..... The real 'money pit' was long ago exhausted (with no real results) and only the hype and lore remain. Cheers, RickO
As a child, Indian Head cents would pop-up in Mom's change purse or Dad's change jar. My uncle who was born in 1888 had all the old money in a leather change purse and I would wonder at all the coins from a by-gone era that were no longer used in commerce. He even had some small denomination gold in there. When he passed away, I never found out where that leather change purse went.

Nice Indian.
Is this a roll of cents from the bank, or a roll of Indians that you purchased ?

That would have been very cool, if true!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
That is a nice coin! Lucky!

I have found at least 2 indians in my casual roll searching over the years. Always a thrill!
