Despite the ANTiCLIMAXITY,, I'd say it a 2 1/2 gram weight used for verification.
So I should take it out of my coins collection, correct?
I'd weigh it!
See if it's close to 2 1/2 grams, ounces, kilos, (whatever), (with some margin for damage/wear). If it's not, then another answer is required.
But your collection is anything you want to make it be. I'd hang onto it, and keep an eye out for others like it. Someday, maybe a long time from now, you might see a picture of one like it, find it in a book, or find another to join it in your collection. You may stumble onto exactly what it is, with the whole back-story and history.
(If you do that AFTER discarding it, you'll probably regret it. )

Very true. Thanks for the advice. I also have a few trade coins (I think) that are punched. I'll post a picture

pic of the other side might help. From this side it looks to be a token, perhaps a merchants? Can't tell with only one side.

Lol, sorry! I thought it might be a token as well but I'm still learning

Guessing some kind of store-card. But could be a game token?
But with no indication of who issued/used it, I could imagine it would be difficult to categorize in any standard catalog of tokens...
While there are some exceptions, Redbook is focused on US coins, issued by the government.

See, this is the deal with this forum.
Do what you want based on opinions offered and whatever you know.
I don't care what you do.
