Hello again everyone! Still busying myself going through the collections I've accumulated over the years. I found this coin which is not only very pretty but appears to have doubling on the obverse. My understanding of DDO is limited. I had this coin checked out 5 years ago and the guy offered me 20 bucks saying it looked neat but wasn't a "real error"...?

Anyhow I hope some of you can shed light on this piece. It's gorgeous with all the pieces intact. The only thing I don't like is that, although uncirculated, it has its fair share of dings.

I was piecing out another collection a few years ago and presented this and the guy said he saw "absolutely no doubling".. uhh..?

What say you, coin masters?

^ I saw there were a few varieties of the globe on the back. The scratches are on the cellophane from the reeded edge. Envelope is blue just bad lighting.

    As far as the doubling part, it's not a doubled die.

    It's the very very common form of doubling called
    'ejection/mechanical' doubling....part of the minting
    process, and not an error.......

    I think I'm gonna get back into this from the ground up.. thank you for your information.. seems I have plenty of reading to do.. may as well learn everything again from page 1. Thank you.

    Yes......very common especially
    on 1968-S thru 1970-S cents,
    as well as every other denomination,
    date, and mintmark.

    I'd suggest you pick up a copy of the
    CherryPicker's Guide to Die Varieties -
    it has a great Appendix describing and
    showing the difference between a doubled die
    and ejection/mechanical doubling.
