Coin Boards gone across the street.......

Or maybe they're just down.
Everything else seems to be there. Just no coin discussions.
Does anyone else see it ?

I don't think they are "gone." They have had a lot of trouble with the roll-out of their new software, and it's probably down right now for some more updates.
We're currently performing maintenance

Here's the link to the US Coin https://cgccomics.com/boards/forum/6-us-coins/ board....
Try this https://www.ngccoin.com/boards/
This reminds me of a local library and some of my computers that always want to do "updates" especially when no one wants them or asks for them. Probably some hotshot employee looking to build their career resume pushed this.
Well they are gone again.
This sums up my opinion of the programmers who maintain Photobucket. The site is up and running fine and is easy to use, and then they bring in some new "enhancements" that tear it to pieces. Nowadays the site has so many pop-ups that is can barely run. I need to find a new picture hosting site. The trouble is I have a lot of time invested in that one.
It's up and running.
As far as upgrading, it looks good on some IT guy's resume saying "Installed and maintained a public discussion board"
@BillJones - Try http://www.collectivecoin.com
The browser add-on application known as AdBlock Plus is quite effective at blocking all pop-up ads at photobucket.com.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I added AdBlock to my computer. When I did that my images would not load on Photobucket. As soon as I deleted it, Photobucket worked again. Photobucket tries to charge you for blocking ad's. That's why the other AdBlockers will not work.
Actually the boards are back at their permanent home: ngccoin.com/boards.
What they appear to have forgotten to do is to replace the link on the temporary board with a folder link to the permanent ones...

I'll say. A completely unusable site.
The boards were back up again last night, but are gone again right now. It's funny, only the 'coin' related boards are missing.
My log in has not worked on the new boards there at all.
They merged Collector Society and Message Board accounts, and a lot of people found out they had two different log ins (emails). I'm not sure the part about logging into the old board is still active, so a call to CS should work.

But before doing any of that, you spend some time wondering if it's really worth it in light of the dwindling traffic there, as do many other people, thus reducing traffic further. Or perhaps you'll "get around to it" and you never do, then discover you didn't miss it when you don't. Yeah, this launch is not going well.

I received the email from NGC regarding the new forums and asked for a password reset, at their suggestion. The result was that I was given a new user ID, lost my post count and was locked out of my old account and private messages.

I think they are trying to tell you something

Yes, pretty much.

Same thing to me.
I decided not to pursue it. I deleted my NGC forum bookmark, and I'm content here for now on.
im fed up with a.t.s. and done with it for now. emails to ngc and all i get is the run around with give us time. you got time already
I have to give out some credit to NGC. I sent an email to them and very soon thereafter they were in touch with me and worked with me to find out what happened during the migration. They did not say it was anything that I did wrong, but I cannot help but think I screwed up somehow in the process. Regardless, they appear to have deleted the new user ID and brought back my old information. Hats off to NGC for the quick help with respect to my account.

I don't disagree that it is a PITA. However, having worked in the industry for years, there is a reason for it (that I, personally, don't like or agree with).....and that reason is "keeping one's job".
For developers, and program managers who create the experience, they either keep creating "new" stuff or they move on and leave it to sustaining engineers. Software companies really don't live by "sustainment". They have to try to "keep up with the joneses" or, preferably, move ahead of the trend.
The real problem isn't just the changes, but rather that the changes often are vetted out very well. They sound good on the whiteboard but the implementation really sucks for a large number of users. It's quite different for someone who wrote the software to instinctively know what to do, and how, or to work around an issue, but still different for the normal user who feels lost and doesn't know why what was in a dropdown box is no longer available.
So, yes, sometimes it is a "career resume builder". I've seen it
Sometimes, it is because they are told by management to "do something" "change something" "improve" (and "improve" comes without clear direction, so it is left up to the lower levels to figure it out...people that have very little knowledge of the actual end user and experience).
For the pop-ups....the dude that created those has already said he believes he made a mistake....for me, that isn't enough...he needs put in front of a firing squad.......sites use those "for revenue"...however, if a site is good enough, unique enough, then they can find a way to get revenue without pop-ups. Too many resort to those, though.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
The new Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) boards seem to be working for me.
I was able to access the new NGC US and World coin boards (formerly Collectors Society).
I noticed that the URL's had changed along with the thread numbers.
Since my posts usually have unusual titles, I was able to find the new URLs by searching the boards for the title.
The NGC coin boards and their predecessors don't have much traffic, a world coin post of mine from December 2016 about a King Farouk coin still shows up on their first page.

At this moment there are no 'coin' related boards there at all.
At least you found the new boards. You are light years ahead of me

Yes, there ARE boards there - make sure you are looking at NGCCoin.com not the temporary location on the Comics board.

Holy cow, how did you find that ?
Click on Registry, click on chat boards and you go to the new/proper address.
Still more or less hidden, hard to find and unlikely they will get back on track any time soon.
I'll say hidden......I keep coming back to this thread so I can get to those boards and change the bookmark in different computers. A google search takes you to the old board.
Those boards are now as far as I am concerned, unusable. They limit their image size to something like 450Kb, all of my images are 1 to 2 Mb and used to post fine there. I am not going to spend all of my spare time reducing their size just to post there. Also, my account managed to disappear in the merger so I would have to re-up as a newbie. NGC again finds a way to shoot themselves in the foot.........
Best, SH
I thought that in modern times storage space for pictures was no longer a big issue. At any rate I was under the impression that NGC has software in their registry area that reduced picture size to levels that are compatible with their website. It seems that they are regressing not progressing on almost all fronts.
Since the company announced that they would no longer accept PCGS coins on their registry, everything they have done since seems to be doing nothing but taking them down hill. Their grading standards have slipped; their message board site has gone backwards; and they spend time attacking their competition which is not a good strategy when you are residing in a glass house.
Agreed in spades

It wasn't that hard to find, I just looked at the NGC site, clicked on the menu. Participation is still way down, but that's not unexpected with the transition.
Bill, storage is still expensive, at least enterprise class storage is. Yes, you can buy a 1TB hard drive for $50. But storage that runs 24x7 reliably costs $, especially if you buy it from a storage vendor. (You can DIY 480TB for $34/71 per, see https://www.backblaze.com/blog/open-source-data-storage-server/). Beyond just the hardware, there is the care & feeding - systems administration, backups, etc.
