OLD COINS..

My son has 2 one cent coins, one 1958, and another from 1946. Do these coins have any value at all?. If anybody could answer my question I would really appreciate it. Thank You. image

Yes. They're worth a penny each.

Russ, that's no way to treat a pretty girl. image

Prettygirl - what you have are commonly referred to as wheat pennies, and they were minted by the hundreds of millions, prior to 1959. Unfortunately, they are worth about a cent a Russ indicated (unless they are in near perfect condition).

    Prettygirl,

Unfortunately, in average condition, they're only worth about 1 1/2 to 2 cents each and are very common coins.

    Ditto. Welcome.

Depends on condition, maybe 2 to 4 cents each.

Welcome to the form Prettygirl.... It is not likely that those coins have value beyond the currency figure. I cannot state that with absolute certainty... since the 1946 S over D has some value and the 1958 Doubled Die Obverse - a rarity- would command a significant price. I would suggest, if you have more than a passing interest, you procure a coin book and become familiar with the anomalies and determine if your son has one... or just regular pennies. Cheers, RickO

Prettygirl, they do have value in a sense, because they are cool to have. Enjoy them for what they are: Old coins that are seldom encountered in circulation.

Why is everybody saying welcome to the forum? This one's been around since April.

And, come on, do you REALLY think any woman would sign up with the handle "Prettygirl" at a coin geek forum? You guys are too easy.
