Possible new rarity! ....Don't make this thread disappear, TREAD LIGHTLY

The TRUMP Official Inaugural Medal is still waiting for the President to sign off on its development by the Medalcraft Mint. NORMALLY this is done BEFORE the inauguration, because excitement is at its highest and people want mementos. Its purpose is to help pay for the inauguration.
Right now the design is chosen, medal-maker chosen, ....still waiting for final approval by POTUS.
I'm just thinking its not going to happen. Its sooooo late.
Also, with all the new developments happening in the the white house, I don't think this is even anywhere on the radar.
That said....there was a medal made for the OHIO republican members of the Inauguration. This could be the only "official" inaugural medal for Trump with a max number of 500 medals made.
To give you perspective of the rarities in the series -
Harding OIM ~60 made, sell for $30,000
Coolidge OIM ~75 made, sell for $18,000
T. Roosevelt(Tiffany medal) ~125, sell for $15,000
Woodrow Wilson(2nd term) ~300, sell for $2,000
"OFFICIAL TRUMP INAUGURAL MEDAL OF THE OHIO REPUBLICAN PARTY 2017.
70mm. Bronze. Peer Hansen, Sc. (Medalcraft Mint). Choice Unc. Housed in its original presentation box with wooden stand. Obverse with a high relief front facing bust of President Trump with just a hint of a smile. His name, DONALD J. TRUMP is inscribed above. The reverse legend reads: FORTY-FIFTH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA INAUGURATED JANUARY 20, 2017 around a representation of the American eagle as it appears on the Presidential Seal. The edge is inscribed MEDALCRAFT MINT at 12:00 and OHIO OIM 2017 at 6:00.
This medal was commissioned by the Ohio Republican Party. The Trump obverse was chosen from a selection of obverse designs commissioned by Medalcraft for submission to the Official Inaugural Committee as its official medal. However, due to the indecision of the Trump Inaugural Committee, the Ohio party was given its choice of all of the Medalcraft designs. We have seen each of Medalcraft's Trump portraits and, in our opinion, this is the best of the lot. Peer Hansen, who crafted this design was also the responsible for the obverse of the 2013 Obama Official Inaugural Medal.
About 500 of these medals were struck for distribution to various VIPs attending the inauguration in Washington."

Comments
Probably not important to the thread....
But I guess I didn't realize the inaugural medals were privately minted! Thought they were mint products.
Shows what I know....
I can see why the President has not signed off on the likeness, assuming that is the best of the lot.
From the Moscow mint?
Well, there is this pic hosted by coin world, appears a bit more realistic
From the Nordstrom mint.
medals were so much nicer when art was a factor in the design and engraving process
"Avoid confusion
The official presidential inaugural medal is not to be confused with the bronze Presidential medal struck by the U.S. Mint. The official presidential inaugural medal is the medal chosen by the incoming president’s Presidential Inaugural Committee or designated Medals Committee. The Presidential medal is struck by the U.S. Mint with designs approved by the seated president and from designs executed by a member or members of the U.S. Mint’s engraving staff. President Obama’s medals were released during his last week in office.
The Presidential medals struck by the Mint are produced in 1.3125-inch and 3-inch bronze sizes.
Assorted previous Presidential medals are currently being offered in the same diameters by the U.S. Mint, priced at $6.95 and $39.95, respectively."

You are correct.
THAT is the medal design for the Official Inaugural Medal that was chosen by the inaugural committee. That is the design that is waiting to be made.
The medal I posted was approved by the inaugural committee to be made ONLY for the Ohio Republicans at the Inauguration

So, where are they for sale at?
Hard to believe the Ohio Republican medal @ 500 will be worth anything. A possible rarity? I doubt it. Thanks for posting.
Most modern presidential Inaugural medals sell for bullion or a bit more.
The ones mentioned in the opening post are the few exceptions. Also, the Wilson Assay Commission medal, not mentioned, is far rarer than any of those.
Thanks for that....Explains my confusion, (if not ignorance).
Where else? Ebay.

"More than 10 available / 7 sold " @ $60.
Crazy.
Anyone have pictures of >>>Harding OIM ~60 made, sell for $30,000
Coolidge OIM ~75 made, sell for $18,000
T. Roosevelt(Tiffany medal) ~125, sell for $15,000
Woodrow Wilson(2nd term) ~300, sell for $2,000
I dont like it. I want to, but I do not think it was done well at all.
I think the best looking medal out there was done by Bernard Von Nothaus, though the company can be difficult to deal with.
Dead Cat Waltz Exonumia
"Coin collecting for outcasts..."
Unimpressive. It almost looks like a "stock" design.
Perhaps the other side will buy and destroy them.
I will buy one (non Ohio version). Please update this thread with details when available.

@epcjimi1.... that one is quite well done.... Thanks for posting... Cheers, RickO
In looking at this Inaugural medal, it makes me appreciate the artistic merit in the others I own more.

He may be up for another medal in 4 years, as Mr.Trump has announced today he is running for re-election.
Orange tinted brass - yeah that's a quality medal
ANA 50 year/Life Member (now "Emeritus")
I Like the coin world version. Wonder what the issue price is and if they will have silver and brass on these.
Think they could have done better with the large bags under his eyes.
Spoke with Joe Levine, and no one knows more about Inaugural Medals than him, and he said its now EXTREMELY LIKELY that there will NOT be an Official Inaugural Medal for Trump.
Making the Ohio medal the only one approved by the inaugural committee and struck for the inauguration. But it still is not "technically" the OIM(official inaugural medal)
That said, if anyone wants to call their representative ask them to submit to the White House the information that he's breaking a very long tradition and that he just has to sign the dang paper, since its already been through 2 committees of approval and only awaiting his signature to be struck at the Medalcraft Mint. Also, the sales of the medals are what was supposed to help pay down the cost of the Inauguration. As of now, none of the inauguration had any sales to offset the cost......unless you bought a license plate(the 1 item sold on the inaugural website )

He doesn't go on there to read, only to write

Playing fast-and-loose with the word "write" there.
PS: Before anybody throws a fit. It is a joke. If somebody makes a good spirited joke about Clinton, Cruz, Obama, Bush, Stein, etc I'll give that an LOL as well. I see certain "pro-Trump" people have sort of gone after others making jokes at Trump's expense and I am sure I'll get some too but just take a chill pill.
Have a laugh and enjoy the world.
Political humor used to be great and good for many laughs.... until we entered the 'Great Age of Sensitivity'.... We who have been around for some time, really miss all the great laughs of years past....Back then, they did not even need vulgarity... Cheers, RickO
This is true. In fact, Dean Martin hosted his own show, The Dean Martin Roast. One show I recall from the early 1970s had Barry Goldwater and Hubert Humphrey. Both of these Presidential candidates were great Americans and had quite a sense of humor... I remember Humphrey confirming he had at least three things in common with Goldwater... We both ran for President; We both lost when we ran for President; and Neither one of us would recognize WIlliam Miller without his American Express Card...
The younger people here may not remember the American Express Card commercials aired at this time... They started with... Do you know me? And the next line was what the person did...
That is just one example and there are countless others...
Edited to add... William Miller was Goldwater's running mate in 1964

Hey, ricko. Remember this blast from the past? " Rockefeller is SO rich he has Goldwater in his toilet."
I think they would/are going to sell bazillions of these. Everyone who voted for him will have to have 2 or 3 hundred for when they are worth a million dollars each.
I would be interested in one of these if they had gotten the hair right.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
I'd be more interested in a 1st spouse medal......
Is it just me, or does the likeness on the Ohio version of the medal look too much like Alec Baldwin?

Any late word on whether or not there will be an official medal?
I ended up with two of the Ohio Trump medals as I am not optimistic that an official one will be issued at this point. The new administration as a true outsider operation did not follow tradition on the normal array of inauguration memorabilia so I don't see why they would turn their attention back to this issue. They have their hands full with other things....
Since I have a couple, with my luck they will likely NOT turn out to be valuable, but the situation suggests the Ohio medal will be it. Years from now maybe people will look back and tell anecdotes about being tipped off on the pcgs forum that this would be a rarity.....
