I don't get the point of a thread like this.

I found a few of the comments by posters here who only come to the NGC boards to defend or proselytize PCGS products (and contribute nothing novel or numismatic of their own) to be particularly humorous. If you don't want to go there, don't. If you do, then do.

It took PCGS nearly 2 years and 2 different vended software products to upgrade to the current version of their forums. But, NGC is supposed to do it in 2 weeks and it's supposed to be perfect. Makes sense.

My main point is, why is it so hard to get to the proto type of the new NGC boards? There was link on the old site, but that disappeared in less than a week's time. I saved the address of the site to which that link led on an iPad, but when I tried to type it in on my desk top, it led to a site that was strictly for comic books. When I tried to find the site via Google, I got almost nowhere.

I never got the email the NGC about the new site, despite that fact that I am a paying NGC member. The only way I got the right spot was a link that someone provided here.

I would not call that "a smooth roll out." At least you were still able to access the PCGS site easily when our hosts were having their difficulties. The site was far from perfect, but you could find it, and it was accessible.

If it was improper to point out these problems, I half apologize to those who are offended because I don't think I'm wrong. I posted my concerns on the NGC site where I could, and have heard nothing. I'd like see NGC remain as a viable grading company, but from late 2016 to the present it's been rocky for them.

I'll try to call them and see what in the Sam Hill is going on over there. Every company like this should have a forum for people to ask relevant questions.

I just went back to check out things with my new logon and it does appear that they are up, though you had to go the comics route.

It is nice to have other coin related forums to get another perspectives on the hobby, even if pockmarked with a troll or two.

Disagreeing with a member (such as MrKnowItAll) doesn't make him a troll.

Not hard to get there--although, yes, the coin forum is under the comic section...

I spoke with Lisa who checked around and didn't know when they will be back up.

The fluidity, and speed of any transition doesn't concern me much- so long as individuals participate and share their knowledge, and fun with collecting coins. Whether it's here, or, over there; It doesn't matter. I just like participating, and reading- mostly learning about what others have to say about this hobby Bill.

Such a great mix- experienced collectors as yourself, authors, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts. Better than any Red Book could produce- however; I still like that book!

    Thanks all!

You never, ever turn something on until you've tested, tested and tested again. What a mess...

The link from the NGC home page has been there all along (from the NGC home page under resources).

I agree. Traffic was already down. This could be a death blow to traffic ATS.

I agree with RR. As I often do.
I spend my hard earned hours here at the number one site from the number one coin enscapulator.
Why settle for less? Ricky Bobby was right.
Besides, the company here is ideally insightful, mature, and often humorous.

There's nothing wrong with the software/forum once you get there. It works fine. The issue was that the OP couldn't figure out how to get there from an iPad. The links were there if you went through the Registry site or clicked on the chat boards link from the ngccoin.com main site. Once there, you bookmark it and you're set. It's not rocket science.

Yep, it always makes sense to have to jump through a bunch of hoops to gain access to a chat board. Every web designer knows that. It will increase your user base expodentially. ;)

In the world of the web, I believe this could well be chalked up to "user error". ;)

Since everyone seems to forget the growing pains that accompanied the PCGS rollout of their greatly-improved forum, I'll give ATS every chance to iron things out -- and they won't not get it right eventually, as it's the generally acknowledged #1 comic board, and people in that realm, collectors and dealers alike, rely on it for information and communication, just as many here rely on the numismatic flow of information that PCGS provides so well.

Lisa told me today it should be back up in a couple days.

That is a mess. I got logged in but the coin forums are read only.

Never got an email about the change even though my email address was good. (That's how I got the password reset)

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I enjoy this board, NGC and CT and have for many years. There are those on every site that are a pain in the you know what. When you get past that there is always something fun to read.

They lost me long ago. I do have many friends there and it's sad it's gone downhill. I need to crossover quite a few NGC coins to PCGS holders. Maybe I better hurry up and do that.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
