Great week coin hunting at the antique shops

Had a fantastic week doing a little coin hunting. I'm lucky to live in a great area that has a lot of antique and group shops along with a half of a dozen pawn shops. I spent $200 this week on these 5 beauties. The thrill is in the hunt. Who else has an antique shop coin find that they would like to share?

Nice pickups.
I probably would have bought every single one of those. Luff the color on the buffs.
Very nice.
Love to see the reverse on that type 1.
Fun stuff! No antique stores or coin shops near me.
I swung by an antique store last week near me and one of the booths had some morgans at what seemed like decent prices . I asked to see one and when I looked at the reverse the eagle had no head
Nice looking coins! I picked this one up raw about a year and a half ago out of an old, dirty album in an antique "mall" about 50 or so miles from where I live. First and only coin Ive ever bought in such a place to date.
Always looking for tougher PSA 10's of Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, and Mike Trout.
Very nice pickups! I've never purchased a coin from such a place, (really, I've never even thought to until seeing this thread) but there are quite a few antique stores near me. Now I know what I'll be up to this weekend!
Very nice coins!!!
HAPPY COLLECTING
There is something interesting (maybe) with that 1884 O Morgan. I am not sure exactly but if you look on the obverse to the west of were the first two stars are after "UNUM" there is something there. It looks to me like the impression of the reverse leaves of a Morgan. Maybe I am wrong but if you look there is a four point mark or indentation that could be the leaves or perhaps its is some sort of die clash? Anyone know what this might be or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
Very unfortunately, I have no shops close by
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb, Ricko
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
As long as you "know" they're nice. Those photos don't convince me one way or the other.
Hopefully this doesn't come across as negative in tone.
Something about the 1863 1c doesn't look quite right.
Perhaps it's the angle of the photo, but the date looks odd.
Interesting... those $50 Morgans would be priced $200 at the antique shop near me that has a display case with Morgans and a few Peace dollars....and none of those are as nice as yours appear to be....Cheers, RickO
I have the same experience as ricko... never seem to run across any decent coins in antique stores.... and what they usually have are priced way more than I am willing to go.
Nice finds by the way... those toned silver coins are AAA++++
There used to be a shop near me but it moved away! Regardless, the coins were way overpriced.

Indian looks clashed. Obverse?
RPD?
Nice coins, and decent prices for an antique shop. As several have stated before, coins in antique shops are usually way overpriced, and not nearly as pretty. Back in the 90s, my wife and I used to stop at a multi-dealer shop in Vergennes (sp?) VT every summer, and one of the booths had boxes of coins, including Bust and seated material. Some of it was cleaned, but almost everything was priced at Good levels, even if it was higher grade. I'd buy a few coins every time and (made a few bucks on flips,) but the year I smartened up and went there with enough money to buy a bunch of stuff, we found the antique mall had closed and been replaced by a local products store. Needless to say, no one there knew what had become of the dealer.
I checked the cent for rpd but no dice. I took the quick pic through the flip so maybe that's why it looks a little funny. Already on their way to out hosts. I'll let you know the results when i get em
I think you should sell me those buffalo nickels. You don't really want those do ya? They're ugly
.
A nice strong clashed die as you pointed out.
I think the Morgan die being such a large surface don't tend to have strong relief on the clashed impressions.
The 09 Lincoln is a nice find for an album coin
Nice finds. I'm hoping to read about those types of scores from the coin star machines across our great land, too.
On that note, I'm reminded of a story which happened to me at acoinshop, once.
So, I left to take several ounces of scrap from there to the refinery. Gold at the time was nearing $1700 per ounce.
On the way, I saw a large sign at a car dealership which read " we buy gold ". It kind of annoyed me. Thinking this is where people go to get wheels seemed odd. But It compelled me to put a sign in front of the coin shop that read: "we sell cars". ( somebody stole it ...LOL )

The only numismatic find for me at an antique shop was a nice large sized 1899 Lincoln Silver Certificate in problem free fine for $9.
Seller said it was in drawer of a 1920s vanity
When I go to flea markets I don't even stop at tables selling coins since prices are usually way above market value.
I notice once watching Junk Stars their showcase with Fractional notes. All priced at 150% of retail.
Yet they quote a "bad economy and market" to justify offers of pennies on the dollar.
Expecting the grades back this week at some point but with the recent threads about wait times I'm not holding my breath
Very nice Love the Buffalos.
Hoard the keys.
Nice finds esp the buffs. I may have to prowl around the antique stores in the area.
Nice finds.
