Thoughts on this Walker

I'm trying to start collecting walkers on a minimum budget. However Im finding most on ebay are either cleaned, dipped or overall in bad shape. What do you think the grade would be for this walker? Does it look cleaned or dipped? Looking only for original patina type walkers
What would a walker like this be valued t providing its original and not been dipped etc.
Thanks in advance

That is the most common Walker that there is and it looks dipped/cleaned. Certified MS examples in 65 are selling for under $100.

Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I agree, luster doesn't look like it's there. For a type coin on these you should be very picky.

It might be nice, and you can come across a raw GEM 43 for 30 bucks (auction) AT MOST. Not worth gambling with bad pics.

Ebay is pretty slow right now so be patient.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Looks to be cleaned. As another stated be picky about what you get when choosing common dates.

washed out and dead. I would be far more selective.

The 43 is easy to obtain in an attractive 63 or 64 grade for very little money in a top tier slab. The BST is a good place to buy these some of the regulars sell Walkers and I bet if you do a want to buy post you can build a nice set over time that way.

Takes more time but you will be far happier with the coins. Take your time and be very picky esp with the 34 and later these are in good supply and no real stoppers.

Forget BST. There are 170 MS63 and MS64 1943-P Walkers for sale on eBay right now, and some are cheap!

OK thanks to all. MY gamble on this was spend the 20 bucks and cross my fingers.

It has all the lines and great detail. For $20 I think you did just fine!

Is your camera stripping some luster? I know my scanner does.

Don't know. This was the pic they listed it with. I guess I will see if I got a deal in a few days. My concern was the the luster like everyone else. But..I've been known to get some good buys on the count of it. Duds as well.

It looks cleaned to me, but for $20 there's not much risk.

Were you planning on having it graded?

  • tizofthetizofthe Posts: 1,358 ✭✭✭

Dont know on the grading part. Guess it depends if its been cleaned or I spot other distractions. Prices in plastic right now it may not be worth it to spend the additional $$. Its suppose to arrive today. Ill posts Pics when I get a chance.

As I mentioned above. Ive been known to get a few good coins for minimal dollars. As example. The Peace and Morgan I picked up for 26.00 and 31.00 and the paramount for 34.00. Ebay offered me these great deals about a year ago. But...I have also not done so good with other auctions. Never go over 25.00 on walkers/Peace and 35 on Morgans. Lot of bidding to land a few questionable coins. The Bank ones were a no brainier tho.

I don't know if the savings and loan dollars were a good deal, but the black Redfield was!

  • tizofthetizofthe Posts: 1,358 ✭✭✭

Thecolors are fantstic on the bank ones. Very bad pic. They are red, blue with a little green. Not dark at all like the pic shows. The reverse of the morgan is target toned and may be 64-64 reverse.

Ebay for me lately, I've either been real happy cause it's way better than I expected or almost ticked off cause it's almost junk.

I bet those bank ones look super in person. Waiting on the new Walker report. I think it will be a good one.

I once sent one of those amazing toned savings and loan dollars in, still in the holder, for crossover, any grade. It was returned to me AT. I wonder if the graders were chuckling at the idiot (me) who did that?

I'd say all of those were a good deal!

Walker looks dipped out, and probably worth about what you paid.
The Morgans are very nice. Should be able to sell for a nice profit.
Nicer than many Tidy House dollars I've seen that have sold for higher prices.
