What is a Private Treaty sale?
What's the definition of a private treaty sale? If I talk to someone and we arrange a sale, one-to-one, is that a private treaty sale? Or does a private treaty sale need to have a dealer handle the transaction between the buyer and seller?

Yes, that's about it.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
A fancy way to say that a coin was sold directly to the buyer outside of the auction process.

Not publicly offered by a dealer by way of auction or website. But rather sold privately to a prospective buyer.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

A private treaty sale is just a direct sale. Conditions can be negotiated outside of an auction.
The advantages are confidentiality, faster transactions than auctions and comparable prices.
it's just a stuffy way to say "I sold a coin to Joe" that the Hobby employs when everyone wants to stay anonymous.
An elitist expression that accomplishes the same thing as happens at a yard sale or flea market....
Cheers, RickO
I consider a private treaty sale a coin which freshly reentered the market and has not been advertised for sale anywhere.
I wish they would just say, "private sale" and be done with it.
I'm pretty sure the "treaty" part of the sale involves diplomats of state. Or pirates.
Everyone has to smoke a peace pipe during the transaction.

I will demonstrate it for you:
You send me $100, and I will send you the 2006 Lincoln cent that I just pulled from my desk.
And we will keep it between us girls on the DL

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
There is that word "fresh" again.......you are kidding...right. It can be any coin!
Back at you, Bro!
