this is a medal which will be easy to identify when it shows up again so anyone interested or affected just needs to be patient, as hard as that might be. although it is lovely and scarce, perhaps rare as a Proof, it isn't prohibitively expensive. that tells me that it will probably make its way back to what Pioneer correctly called a small community through a collector who won't know it's stolen. therein lies the hope for its return.
Truly a beautiful medal..... I have no doubt it has 'turned up' somewhere, since a thief would gain nothing by holding it....unless, by some rare chance, the thief was a collector. Cheers, RickO
