What do you think of this 1925P Mercury Dime. Obverse Struck from Rusted Die?

Pictures are a little dark. What is your opinion of the coin?
A little bit larger obverse shot.

A nice coin... would miss FB due to middle band (IMO)... the obverse surface 'appears' to have a strange 'granularity'.... could just be the picture.... One I might consider for purchase if viewed in hand... Cheers, RickO
Not the picture. The obverse surface is like you stated. I will let this go for awhile to see if anyone can come up with the surface solution.

Looks like weak dies giving it the granular surface and it also appears to have light circulation.
OK.... there are still what appear to be visible flow lines, so not harshly dipped... I will wait for other input .. Cheers, RickO
Looks like a nice lightly circulated example.
The fields, at least to me, show the typical pattern of when the metal flows out from being struck. Sometimes it's harsher looking than others. Looks great to me. No FSB, but still a really nice coin. I think it's lightly circulated given the light chatter on the bust. A keeper none the less.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Some of the chatter on her face could have already been on the planchet. Looks like the die was well used. Nice interesting coin. I like is.
Dipped AU. Not full bands.
Attractive AU. Would make a good Dansco coin.

Looks like a nice AU58 coin to me also but with a chance at low Mint State. The neat part is that the obverse is struck from a Rusted Die. I have seen 3 of these since I started collecting Mercury Dimes in the middle 80's and all 3 have been 1925P's. Two were raw and 1 was in a PCGS MS63 slab.

Ken, I think your assessment is correct...rusted dies. The coin has a nice look to it and could grade 58-62 no bands.
I have saw this before but never gave it a thought when I'm picking I don't have time to stay on one coin, I just pass and moved on to the next one. But looks AU-58 cool coin for a book.
Hoard the keys.
