Guess the grade on this 1913-S type 1 buffalo *EDIT* NOW GRADED!

Just graded MS66 at our host! Trueviews forthcoming.
Just arrived from Austria, and I definitely yodeled a bit when I saw it.
I only needed 1 light to take the obverse pic, reverse is every bit as lustrous but I think due to the shape of it, wouldn't turn out as good.
Updated to post Joe aka crazyhounddog's photos of the coin since they are about 500% better.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

I'd like to give my opinion on grade, but I really can't tell from the pics if it's a 3 or a 6, or cleaned.
I'd need to see it in hand.
MS65 if it grades but does it have varnish or oil on it? Hard to tell need to see it in hand to say for Shure.
Hoard the keys.
I can't grade Buff's to save my life but that one is chiseled. I've never seen one with the reverse field like that. I am just used to looking at smooth circulated ones.
I gotta say the Buff is HAMMERED!! I'll take a wild guess. Just going by the strike alone 66. Now, if the luster is there and nary a mark on it, and I can't see any, 67 all day everyday. It's gotta be one a those. I wish I could see it in hand. Send it to me
Based on the pics it looks like a MS66
The buff's left front shoulder seems a bit whitish and flat....friction? I'll still go MS65 though. Almost too white to be superb as something almost had to be imparted to the coin during that dipping/cleaning. Like Mannie Gray said, could be anything from 63 to 66...or cleaned. No doubt purchased at a low enough price to take the shot.
It might look waxy because it has a matte finish to it, or just because my images are not that good. It looks very comparable to my 1913 type 1 proof. My images also wash out the nice skin it has. I'm gonna send it to Joe for imaging.
(1913 type 1 raw photo, now PCGS PR66)

This is a better representation of the matte.
That is a very impressive Buff.... 66..... Is that a carbon spot by the Indian's eye? Or just some dirt, I do not see it on the OP picture. Cheers, RickO
The op is S.
Yes sir, 2 different coins, the beauty marked one is a proof.
When we think PL we're looking for mirror fields but here w e have matte PL
If it was presented as a branch mint proof, I would believe it
Great coin! San Francisco certainly got that one right.
It's got the MS 67 look. I'd like to see what the graders think.
Almost looks too good to be true. Only the professional graders will be able to make the final call on that one. Buffalo nickels are one series I am reluctant to grade.
This is one I think they got wrong will send it back one day.
Hoard the keys.
Just opened this thread, and before scrolling through the prior responses, Proof came to mind immediately, while obviously not possible from SF. Tough call on the grade guess, but certainly gem.

Does the original hub have that much detail?
HAMMERED strike for sure! Whenever I see one with this kind of texture and detail I'm always in awe of the original design.
Before reading the posts my gut instinct was MS66 but, of course, you can't grade from pics so it's just my 2 cents.
Very nice score!
Looks like a weak strike. Maybe a Trial strike? I don't see any fur on the Buff. Blinded by the rawhide.
There's only the slightest weakness at the front of the bison's head and a little flatness on the tail next to the rim. Tho luster is notoriously difficult to see accurately in an image, my best guess is a 66.
That is a shockingly LOVELY coin, WOW! The grade would be almost pointless based on the picture as the presentation is superb. The reverse almost looks like a enlarged medallion rendition of the coin - all this on a simple nickel. I like it better at least in the photos than many proofs.
Well, just Love coins, period.
Updated with high quality pics in the first post.
Incredible detail. MS66
Just got grade results today, it is now an MS66.

Awesome!
No reason that didn't go MS67! Awesome, hammered, coin.
I guessed MS67 before I looked at the grade. Superb Buffalo.
Nice coin. It's always satisfying when the graders see it the same way you did.
(Back at the house) That is a beautiful Type I Buffalo!
Type2: I really dig the tone your Buffalo has!

Amazing gamble!! The sellers photo's were on the crappy side. You smacked a grand slam with that one. Congratulations!
Luster goes a looong way with how buffs grade. Good job!
I was thinking 65/66, congrats that is a very nice coin

What a beautiful coin... This image clearly illustrates how and why engraving is a lost art in coinage.

Very nice indeed and worthy of the grade.... Cheers, RickO
Congrats, beautiful coin!
