How Many B&Ms have these customers ?

Visited some of my friendly B&Ms this week,,,. as I pulled into lot of one B&M ,noticed someone came out of the B&M ,sliding into a new Bentley .with temp plates .. .Complimented my friend for having such good customers . he said the man came to drop off his list of coins he wanted to buy at the Fun Show Auction .. no max price ...just bid and buy for some gold and several early American coins

A "statue of liberty" bidder by proxy, that should work really well. Better hope he doesn't run into another bidder with that same mindset. Even if you're rich, there is a price point beyond stupid money.
A dealer that would do that wouldn't have that sort of customer for long, bet he does his homework before the auction.
Sometimes those customers may tell the dealer "Buy these coins, I don't care what price, I want them." That is how stupid money is spent.
I had one like that, but he died last nov. He never spent more than like 40k at one time, but if he got his mind on something he wanted, he would up the price till the seller budged. One case I remember vividly , where the seller didn't budge. It was a seated with arrows quarter in an ogh 58 holder , probably worth about 500 bucks, guy had it at a show , but it wasn't for sale. He went all the way to 4k, and the dealer still wouldn't sell it.
Everything I own has a price or I will put a price on if needed

It's hard for me to fathom why someone would collect in that manner, but to each his own. Seems too sterile.
I want to see the coin, research it, hear the buzz pre-auction, talk with dealers that may have something better put away or have seen better, be a part of the action in the auction room or on line, etc.

Because they can. Like the bigwigs who hire a guide to find them a trophy bighorn sheep and then fly in, shoot the thing and maybe hang around long enough to get smoe pics and then leave. To each their own.
Very simple word ....anonymity ..I didn't even bother to ask my friend .. his name , what he buys , what line of work he does
i wish i had the budget to do that but just the same, it is what it is. i hope the collector gets what he wants

Two types of people, those who hire "guides" and those who chose to do it themselves.
One way is way more rewarding.
I catch really big fish from a kayak out in the ocean, I also take some of the best photographs of nature, as well as buy some of the coolest major modern error coins out there. I have never hired a guide in my life.
