This came up in another forum but I think the consensus was this was NOT a 1794 NC-7 or also known as a 1794 s-20a.
Why in the world did it go for that much then??
I have plans....sometimes

Your guess is as good as mine. Not even graded!!

i would comment but it just ended and it is best not to possibly ruin someone's rip or great purchase. glad i saw the date before i said anything.
.
I would not do so but this was already a topic on another forum and I mean the only thing it could be to justify that price is a NC-7 but it seems 99.99% it is not.
Wow... I wonder if the winner is a forum member.... would be nice to hear the 'rest of the story'....Cheers, RickO
Does anybody have a picture of the unique s-20a aka NC-7? Asked on another forum and nobody did.

Only 2 bidders above the $2822 level....taking it to $8850+. And those last 2 bidders showed up with 11 seconds left....the first one entering a nuclear jump bid of $8505. That's all strange enough itself. Seems odd that if you're willing to jump in at $8505 for something you really treasure....and then give up at $8750??? No one can value coin in that range that closely.
Nuclear snipe bids gone wrong? Refuse to lose syndrome? Shill(s)? Or the real deal? As mentioned above, you do have a return priv. Though I've been there before where a seller offered a no questions return priv on a $2200 raw coin and then refused to comply after the auction was over. If I were the winning bidder I'd be opening this up on video in front of the postal inspector.

I mean a picture of the edge. That is what makes this coin unique but I can't find any pictures of it. The die marriage is the exact same as the relatively common s-20b.
