Counterfeit PAMP Suisse Bars Popping Up In Canada

I realize this topic is neither definitively US-based nor is it exclusively about coins, but dealers across Canada have been getting hit with what has been called "near-perfect" counterfeit PAMP Suisse bars complete with packaging. Many of us have bullion and many others like the PAMP bars, as well, so the article might be worth a read-

US Shops started noticing them earlier this year. They've been plaguing eBay too of coarse.

At least a couple of the CT dealers have xray or high tech equipment to interdict fake gold/precious metals. The temptation to defraud is great by some unscrupulous individuals. One club member told me he palmed off gold plated junk on hotel buyers figuring two wrongs made a right, which just creates more bad results.

this was in the March 21st, 2016 issue of CoinWorld, complete with diagnostics and a way to verify the packaging. the thickness can be easily checked inside the packaging with mics and the outer dimensions can also be roughly checked inside the packaging --- close enough to determine genuine/fake.
