Today I experienced, first hand, the truth of a "Keetsism".

Keets has many times stated on the forums that when it comes to 1950 -1970 Cameos they are hard to find in the wild, but that when they do appear they often do so in multiples (Cameos struck successively off of fresh or repolished dies are placed into OGP at the same time and these sets are shipped together to the initial purchaser, only to surface together in one place decades after they left the mint).
Today I stopped by a local shop to snoop. The shop had some new flat pack proof sets from 1962 and 1963. The ink writing placed on the outside of the yellow flat pack was identical (in the handwriting itself and in the words placed on each set) leading me to believe that they remained together since delivery to the original purchaser through their acquisition by the local shop.
Looking at the sets I found 3 1963 sets containing high grade Cameo nickels and two 1962 sets containing high grade Cameo half dollars. The mirrors on all five coins are flawless to the eye and the devices on both sides are heavily frosted. Even through the mint cello the deep mirrors and icy frost just jump out at you. I picked up all five sets for very modest money. Tonight under good lighting i will take photos of the coins inside and possibly out of the cello and post them to this thread.
So Keets has been proven correct, today, 12-8-2016 and I marvel at his wisdom

Looking at the sets further it appears that the 2 1962 dimes are lightly frosted and have a Cameo appearance, the 3 1963 dimes are lightly frosted and have a Cameo appearance and the reverses of the 3 1963 half dollars are frosted making them one sided Cameos.
I like keets. Always the rock in a sea of doo-doo. Always ready to provide great advice and voice of reason.

The 3 nickels and 2 half dollars are out of the cello. They are drop dead gorgeous. Lock Cameos that would grade 67, 68 and maybe even 69. I took photos but have not been able to attach them. Will keep trying.

Kevin, nice!!! my best similar find was some 1957 sets with great Cameo Quarters and some 1961 sets with nice Cameo Quarters and one "poor man's" DDR Half-Dollar. as for the Keetsism, thanks for the kind words.
Nice pickups! I've found a number of '60's cameos and deep cameos, but I don't recall ever finding a really nice cameo nickel in the wild.
I have also founda number of cameo "runs" while searching raw sets but they are more difficult to find than ever.
And never forget that you can find "runs" of varieties as well. My biggest score of all time was finding multiple 1961 Franklin doubled die reverse in a run of fresh sets. Earned a "you suck" from Russ at the time.

Not only do the Cameos, Gems, and varieties run in packs but once in a while you'll find a group that is a "collection" of someone who liked these so they're all Cameos, Gems, or varieties. It has been rare for me to find these and in every case it was a pretty small collection but they are out there.
For some reason the photo of the reverses of the 3 nickels will not attach. I will try again.
Thanks for the props. Yesterday is an example of why a visit to a local shop or show for a few minutes is worthwhile. You never know what you will find.
Cladding makes a good point about finding a collection of these coins. I lucked out a few years ago and found a set of Cameo proof Franklin's a collector assembled over the years. I bought it at a Santa Clara show and benefitted from the hard work of another collector.
Those are great coins.
And Keets logic is sound.
Finally was able to get the final photo to attach.

Lightning strikes twice and the Keetsism repeats itself. Today at a show I snagged two 1964 proof sets in OGP that each contain Cameo half dollars and very likely DCAM quartets and dimes. These coins were struck consecutively off of fresh dies.
Somehow I expected this thread to tie back to the Langford case.
Nice find, Sanction II, and definitely some of those coins should get cameo or deep cameo and decent grades as well.
