These are all coinfacts images as the trueviews haven't been posted, but feel free to GTG on these 4 walkers, all were bought raw.
I think I'll never get higher than 64 on a 34 walker. I've made 2 43-s in 65. One I passed to let a let a friend have got a 66..

65

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

64;65;64;65. Hard to tell as true view tends to make the coins look better.

Those are all very nice Walkers! I know the grades so I won't participate.
    Really nice.

Though, my experience is that the difference between 5 and 6 really requires you have them in hand. (And even then, I'm not betting on my answer). :)

Any I'm not sure on any of them. I could see some a point higher and/or lower. Thought the last one seems to be a sure 66/67 coin. Getting a 66 on a 43-s is very difficult. Unless sharply struck, probably needs to be almost flawless.

    66, 65, 66, 66.

If all the rattiness in the right field on the 34 is just toning, I could take a flyer and go 66+ on the 34.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

On a second look, I like the strike on the '42.... but would have to dip it due to the obverse... sorry... Cheers, RickO

42: 65 (don't know how it missed 66 as it is virtually flawless)
    43-s: 65
34: 64 bit too chattery in the RH field I guess?
45-d: 66 thought maybe they'd plus this but reverse strike may have killed that.

These were 4 out of 8 coins submitted and I am quite pleased with the results.

I'm bummed too as I was counting on that for a perfect score! I would have lost a bet as I was certain it was 66/65/64/66

1934's can come really nice so I think PCGS tends to tough on any limiting marks in the right field. You also have those two hash marks to contend with below the right talons on the reverse. That's a pretty focal spot.

All in all you seem to be doing great on your raw Walker purchases! Congrats

I too thought it was a lock 66. Not much of a price jump so I won't make a big stink.

I've been looking at it for ten minutes and can't figure it out. Maybe they thought they saw something the toning. You are right about the lack of price jump for FWIW

This is the one that I missed keeping me from a perfect score. I noticed the chatter in the right field but didn't think it was bad enough to keep it from 65. I guess that we'll call it a 64++ ;)

Nice coins and congrats on the grades. These are good examples of how 'grading is an art'. The strike on the higher graded 43 is weaker than say the lower graded 34. The 34 looks to have a little more chatter in the obverse fields which might have limited the grade, hard to tell from the photos. But...IMO, the 43 is graded a bit to high considering the strike weakness on the obverse and reverse. Compare the hands on the obverse and the eagles leg feathers to the other coins. For me, Walkers can be tough to grade...but they are beautiful coins!

    Thanks for posting!

The 43 is a San Fran mint so you have to consider that in the overall strike department. It is average to slightly above average.

I agree but I would lean more toward above average.
Nice coins, especially for raw ones.
There's still a lot of nice unslabbed stuff out there.
Nice eye you have there, sir.

Nice coins! I agree with all the grades. Just a bit too much in the 34 fields for the 65. Strike sure is there!
