PCGS doesn't give out the AU58+ grade too often and just about every one of them I've seen looks really nice for the grade and often looks undergraded. I would guess that nearly all PCGS AU58+ coins would get a CAC sticker if they were submitted.

In reality that would mean CAC agrees only with the base grade of 58.
Exactly, and good point. CAC says they only review coins on the base grade and ignores the plus... so you would think that most plus coins of any grade would have a better than typical shot at getting a sticker at CAC. But it is clear that not all plus coins get CAC stickers.
But with PCGS AU58+ coins specifically, they seem to almost always be way way better than the average AU58.
against the grain here. PCGS and CAC must be taking it easy on halves. The 1835 looks like a 55 to me. Yes, don't grade from a picture, yada yada yada. My 2¢
Both appear to have full field luster. I don't know how anything but a 58 or higher could come from that. The first coin has very minimal rub. You will often run across MS62-63 bust halves with just as much friction as these two AU58's.
I wonder if CAC decides not to give 58+ coins gold stickers if they are undergraded given the reason that many collect them? What would a gold on a 58+ mean to a collector of circulated?
You did well getting PCGS to upgrade both of your P58 CAC coins to P58+ CAC. I did not have the pleasure of seeing either coin in hand, so my bids on them were way too low. Now both coins are easily worth what you paid for them at Heritage auctions. Good job!
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
I am not saying I disagree with either grade but I sure like the look of the 1830 over the 35. As Roadrunner mentioned, I would think the 1830 might MS some days

Nice pair of Busties...
I like the 1830 best.... Cheers, RickO
Thanks. The in-hand luster on both of these beats every other CBH I have, especially the 1830.
