Yep, for all of the old, already inaccessible areas (like the old Open Forum), we dropped the data during the transition, and that's the reason for the difference in post counts.

Well darn, a lot of the high post count people (CoinHead, Puff, Clw etc.) lost a lot of count then.

Good grief...the new software is good, why should you post count numbers matter?
I only see 1 thing better that it was before.....that being able to post a pic straight from your computer. Everything else is a definite step backwards to me.
This platform is FAR better than the previous one. A huge upgrade, imo. Some people have difficulty adapting to change, but that doesn't mean anything new can't be better. I felt the previous change from the format two versions ago was not an improvement, but this one is definitely much better, no question about it.

If it that important to you add a plus count to your signature line. The real shame is the valuable info that was lost. Is there a competition to have the most post, are they giving away a prize?

Nah no prize, but there are some bloated egos around here who have that "mine's longer than yours" mentality that is based on post count. Too bad CU doesn't have a filter that would automatically delete cheat posts.

I can make those all up today though.
Maybe if you replied in a deleted thread, that number is lost. so all those doing the +1 thing in deleted threads are lost. Just a guess. How would the new database know about a post that no longer exists and never existed as far as it is concerned?

I don't know who disagreed with me and Coindeuce but you must have a super huge ego. I don't come here to see how many counts you have. I have learned a lot about coins here and it opened more doors to my collecting experience. I wasn't aware of all the varieties until I was informed of the Cherry Pickers Guide by some post on this site. I don't know who posted that the new Cherry Picker Guides were coming out But I would like to thank them. Since the current CPG release I have picked up a 1909 cent DDO, 1887 IHC DDO, and 1953 quarter proof Re-engraved tail feathers and a few other minor varieties. So who ever posted the CPG thank you again. The only time I ever look at the post count is on the BST. I don't need the prestige of having a high post count but if you can find a way I will donate mine to you.

Actually, they do give "prizes" in the form of a merit badge count next to your name. The big steps are 1K, 5K, 10K, 25K posts. I don't know if there's a 50K.

Yes, during the change in boards in February, 2001 we all lost everything. The archive was no longer linked to the new boards, we had to re-register our user names, our post counts were wiped down to zero and, if we had a PM system on that really ancient board, it was also deleted.
IMO it's cool to see both total post counts AND "member since" dates .... because frankly both allow some possible logical gaps to be quickly filled. And because there's healthy camaraderie to it, too.
"Points" and "Likes" is the new post count. you get points for answering questions and getting "likes" and "agrees". Post counts means you just post a lot
Lost all of mine, about 1900 or so, but not really a major matter, but it looks like some did and some didn't. Does that mean the rest may get caught back up?

Jes, looks like you have an extra 'b' in your username now, is it possible you didn't log back into the same account from before the switch?
I couldn't care less about the post count, but the "user since" info was useful to folks on the BST.

I thought the same thing about the extra "b" in the user name. Of course, perhaps the extra "b" is intentional and meant as jet-b-broken.

Shows you with 10,791 posts. I hope that isn't just since the new forums came online.
No, I was up over 11K.
I am missing a bunch too. Maybe it was all of the open forum posts they excluded. (at least for me)

None of mine were in the Open Forum. Just here and Sports Talk.
I lost 12,000 posts.
It's gonna be a lot of work to get 'em back.

I just gained 405 posts by adding one post a few minutes ago. Nice leverage!
I tried that trick by posting on the world and test forums with no effect.
WOW! What's the secret word to make that happen?

I request you re-add the posts to the count. It's very competitive in here with folks as to who has how many.

The seemingly more important metric would be number of posts of value. That is impossible to quantify in most cases.

Later, Paul.
Thank God they don't count just the useful posts.
Then everybody would be less than 100
