What to do about the bank?
I went to cash my check at my local bank that I have been using for over 50 years and ran into a little problem. I usually get a roll or two of minidollars to spend around town. I don't care which ones they are but they give me a Cherios buck it would be ok. Anyway, I ask the teller for a roll of small dollars and she says she doesn't have any. I ask her, "are you telling me that this entire bank doesn't have a roll of minidollars? She said the they did not. She said that there was no demand for them. I told that was not true since I ask every week for some. I asked if she would order some. She said no. I said why not? She said "When a customer comes in they must take all the coins out of the roll to put them in the coin counter. I asked what that has to do with ordering some coins for me. She couldn't come up with a good answer. I didn't have time to talk to hers superiors at the time but I am going to make a return to the bank to discuss things further. This bank never used to be like this and I think they have hired a lot of lazy rabble than don't want to do any more work than necessary.

You just described the vast majority of the American workforce.
I'll cosign that ! Not saying all are that way but what a contrast to when I was young. Just saying.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Actually, in the last few months, I have seen several instances of excellent customer service in other businesses as well...very notable when it happens, since, as mentioned above, that has been noticeably lacking for some time. Cheers, RickO
I feel your frustration......I have a bank that will not give me anything in rolls or boxes, let alone cash in a coffee can of coins. The manager has accused me of being a " coin recycler" and a " coin collector." Bad news is all I can say. I actually felt like I had been doing something illegal.
Otherwise, all the banks I visit are very friendly and willing to let me use their services.
The thing is I don't care if they are Sue Bucks, Pres Bucks, or Indian Bucks, They don't have to be new. I just want to put them in my pocket and spend them around town. I have found that it is much easier to spend the dollar coins then searching for ones dollar notes in my phone wallet which has very limited space for dollars.

Starting in 1999, I could buy each new State Quarter, '99 SBA,
2000 Sac. Dollars, etc. from my bank downstairs in the building.
Upon each release date, or within a day or two, I would have
$500 and $1,000 bricks of quarters and dollars available for me to buy.
After the last State Quarter, when I tried to get the Territory Quarters,
my good contact at the Bank said that the L.A. Federal Reserve would
not handle/disburse them, as there was no legislation or requirement
to do so, unlike the regulations for the State Quarters - that's what they
told her directly. That is one of the main reasons, if not THE reason,
why you don't see the newer quarters, since 2009, circulating anywhere
near the degree of the State Quarters.
Yes, they are obviously still available from sources such as Brinks/Loomis, etc.,
but it's clear that distribution is not what we would like it to be for the
new coins to become successful as far as circulating is concerned.
I like them for spending, too. I wish they would eliminate the dollar bill and use the dollar coins, (like Canada) much easier, especially in vending machines!
