How fast time does fly. I think the best part of these forums is the amount of knowledge that can be tapped. And, of course, your replies on the MD forum!

Bongo Bongo during his brief time on the forum bought many a smile to my face before
    his sudden demise.

IF YOU BUY WHAT YOU LIKE, AT A PRICE YOU CAN AFFORD AT THE TIME, THEN THINGS WILL BE EASIER

IF YOU BUY WHAT OTHER PEOPLE LIKE, BORROW TO FUND IT AND EXPECT MULTIPLES OF RETURN, THEN YOU ARE LIKELY TO BE UNHAPPY

BONGO SAY NEARLY EVERYTHING DEPRECIATES OVER TIME. BONGO WOULD NOT PAY $500 FOR A SILVER BELL THIS XMAS AND EXPECT IT TO BE WORTH $550 NEXT YEAR. BUT BONGO KNOW A SILVER BELL IS NOT OLD COIN OR IS IT?

BONGO MAYBE NOT SURPRISED THAT OLD COIN IS LIKE ANY OTHER LIMITED NON ESSENTIAL COMMODITY AND SUBJECT TO THE WHIMS OF TASTE AND MARKET.

PUT THE COIN IN BOOK AND ENJOY IT.

IF IT IS WORTH MORE WHEN YOU COME TO SELL IT, WELL DONE

IF NOT, THEN YOU HAVE HAD ENJOYMENT OUT OF IT.

REMEMBER THAT OLD COIN IS ONLY WORTH FEW DOLLARS IN PHYSICAL MATERIAL VALUE - THIS IS WHY VALUE IS AN ESOTERIC CONCEPT IN MANY WAYS AND IT MAY BE VULGAR TO ASSIGN ANY MONETARY VALUE TO OLD COIN UNLESS YOU ARE A RUSSIAN OLIGARCH OR CHINESE SHODDY GOODS FACTORY OWNER

I replied: Hey Bongo, is your CapsLock Key stuck????

BONGO SORRY AND REPEAT WHAT BONGO SAY IN OTHER THREAD.

    BONGO AWARE OF BIG LETTERS

BONGO HAS MADE HIS DISPLEASURE OF BROKEN KEYBOARD KNOW TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS BUT BONGO'S CHRISTMAS WISH FOR NEW GOES UNANSWERED.

BONGO SORRY AND ASK GROUP FOR PERMISSION TO CONTINUE TYPE BIG LETTERS

Hey I am in for a chance at a shark tooth! I have enjoyed the many times that I was educated by, enlightened, entertained, and just plain found enjoyment in your presence here on the forums.

Note to self: go find more shark teeth.

I'll see what I can do on that front. Sold off all I had, so that little baby Meg is the only one I'm aware of having right now, unless there's a forgotten box of fossils somewhere...

Congratulations on your anniversary. Do you still have your collection of love tokens or coins with holes in them?

I sold my date set of Seated dime love tokens, and sold the holey collection some time before that, but went back to love tokens and other "creatively damaged" coins in my current "Oddball" collection. (There is a link to that in my sig line, but that particular thread is way out of date and in need of updating with newps and removal of pieces I've sold.)

    OK... wow.

Reading over some of the tripe I posted in the OP, I must apologize.

    image

You see, when the pendulum of my bipolar cycles swings over to the manic side, I come up with some pretty kooky stuff sometimes. Occasionally it's creative (like the "Operation Stone Holey" Yap coin quest people have mentioned), but at other times it's just a little weird, like offering $1 giveaway prizes. I assure you this was never meant to be insulting.

I'll try to find some more fossil shark teeth to give away.

The Russian crosses arrived today, and they're pretty neat... but small.

All right, you lotto gamblers, pick the serial number on the ticket you want, if you chose the lottery option! image

I have not scratched these yet, so I don't know if they're any good or not either!

If anybody wins a free ticket, that is a "break even" (if on a $1 ticket, you get a buck, on a $5 ticket you get $5- via PP gift, of course.)

Once everybody's chosen a prize, we'll scratch these suckers off and see what happens! image

    $1 "Lucky 7" tickets; odds 1:4.96

    #160- ProofArtworkonCircs

    #161- Catbert

    #162- DRUNNER

    #163- oih82w8

    #164- ajaan

    #165- DrBuster

    #166- cameonut2011

    #167- Walkerfan

    #168- WoodenJefferson

    #169- Lakesammman

    #170- MICHAELDIXON

    #171- 123cents

    $5 "20X The Money" tickets; odds 1:4.05

    #021- LotsoLuck

    #022- pcgs69

#023- LotsoLuck (gave him an extra shot at the lotto 'cause he sent me a gift coin recently)

Boy, I sure hope SOMEBODY wins SOMETHING.

It would be even more embarrassing than my initial $1 PPG offer if all these tickets turn out to be duds!

Of course that's always a very real possibility with lotto scratchoffs.

Hey LordM! Was quite a surprise this morning to see I was one of the winners!

How about #22 from the scratch tickets? If it's a big winnah, we will split it!

YOU sent me a free Seated half out of a clear blue sky recently, so you're gonna get TWO shots at the $400K. You get Ticket #021 AND #023! image

(But if you win $400K, I expect a CircCam VF-XF Seated dollar and 20c piece for my small circ Seated set, OK?) image

Congrats on 15 years, LordM, what a fun thread! We go way back, from the time about 14 years ago when I bought my seated half dime from you (still have it!) through many conversations in threads and PMs, shared interest in holed coins, a few other coins sent and received I think, and thanks again for the previous gift of the nifty sharks teeth for my son, he and his friends loved them! We all take breaks from the forum and have episodes of coin and other mania from time to time, anyway, here's to another 15 years of collecting activity, and congrats to all the winners and participants

PS- all of the free tickets turned out to be duds, but I suppose that isn't so surprising. Last time I checked, Santa Claus did not work for the Georgia Lottery board.

Actually, three people were supposed to get free $1 tickets, and I slipped up and only bought two on Wednesday morning.

So I will go and get one more.

This means Catbert, oih82w8, and 123cents still have one last remote chance to get a little somethin'-somethin'.

If that last $1 ticket is a winner, I'll randomly draw one of those three folks to send the goodies to. image

    And... it was a winner!

Thanks for your generous giveaway. Sad I did not respond but knew my chances were in capable hands even though I was not deemed a winner. I might not be here for your 40th giveaway, so good luck with that one.

Congratulations Rob on 15 years and all your collecting endeavors. Congrats to the winners also.

It's hard to believe it's been that long, and yet it has, and there is still the early group of us still bonded by a passion and sharing the knowledge.

I try to check in as often as I can but my life took another path of my choosing and I'm happily pursuing the fruitful bounty. I still have my collection though. Great to see all the old names again.
