If there is a limit to a message length, perhaps it should be measured in screen real estate, rather than words. Scrolling through 35 feet (the necessary height of my monitor with the dot pitch unchanged such that I would not have to scroll) of images lightly interspersed with text only to find little of interest is irritating.

Yes, I have gotten that, and I now know what your problem is.
You were accidentally typing in the title/subject line, not the main body of the message post section.
It will also sometimes happen if you are posting a reply to the thread and the message title has gotten deleted from that line.

before the upgrade, it was 25,000 characters. i hit it.
copy/paste a huge amount of text on the test forum to find out or at least ballpark it.
