A bit late but i was gifted 2 amazing coins this past birthday. the 1909s VDB is a coin I have wanted since I was 10 years old. I was with my father some 28 years ago on vacation and we found one in a pawn shop. I asked if we could buy it, I had like $20 on me but promised to pay him back but $300 was too much at the time. Well finally I own the coin I have wanted for these many years. What I am wondering is, the coin is in great shape but the slab is scratched as seen in my photos should I send it in to put it in a new slab? The other coin is the 2016 100 anniversary SLQ, it looks great but like many of you I am disappointing in the smaller size.
i would love to hear your thoughts.

As already stated those scratches should clean up easily.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I will look into Plastix, also there is a product called Slabrenew has anyone else used this?
I have slabrenew and it is a lot like Plastx. Try the $6 (Walmart) Plastx first before spending more money on something else.
Plastx will take out fine scratches, but you have to work a long time on deep scratches.
Another thing I do to help hide scratches is to put a good coat of soft carnauba wax on the viewing part of the slab. I still use The Treatment, but I understand the little 1 ounce lifetime supplies are no longer available unless buying a small amount in a kit.
By the way - nice coins...

Those are very light scratches and will take all of 3 minutes to eliminate them. Just get some PlastX from the local auto store. Put a dime size glop on and rub with a microfiber or cotton cloth. Piece of cake. It's too nice of a coin which now has sentimental value to risk losing to USPS, not to mention it's a cool green holder.
Agree completely. I wouldn't chance shipping it out for a new slab (if it was mine). I've used Meguiar's PlastX time and again on scratched up slabs with excellent results.

I would leave it be and just polish it up, as the scratches don't look too bad.

Agree with others about cleaning up the current holder. That is a REALLY nice example of Die 4, EDS (no die chip in the
Great post!
By the way that's one GORGEOUS Lincoln. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer looking example in 58 or even in 65, for that matter.

PlastX is better than Slabrenew, which is just Novus repackaged for the middleman's profit.
If that doesn't do the job because the scratches are too deep then buy some 3M wet/dry polishing paper. This stuff will take care of the worst scratches.
