That card was graded many years ago. In my experience, PSA is tougher on centering now vs back then, but that card may also be a mechanical error.

Good place to hit if you like sliders. Check his other offerings. Same thing. Now would be a wise time to consider just how much of a shift in interpretation of grading has occurred over the years. Anyone who thinks PSA hasn't become more rigid in their standards hasn't been paying enough attention.
The earlier stuff that sells also alters the VCP scale accordingly. This is not to say that all the older graded stuff is questionable. There are actually nice finds on the upside, too. Most sellers just don't want to dump those.

Thanks for the reply. I knew they didn't change the cert so that is what threw me off.
I've never seen PSA pay to downgrade a card, but I'd bet they'd do it for this one if only to save face (not that anyone would send this card in for a review)
looks to me that this was a mechanical error that was not corrected. even when psa was more lenient on centering, they would not have passed this card especially considering the diamond/miscut cut

It looks about 85% right (and 15% left) to me!
The price seems right...they bought the card, not the holder
I show it at $28 with 4 days and 4 hours to go.
I think collectors view it as if it were 8OC - the kiss of death.
When any RC or higher end HOF'er is 50/50? It always seems to command a premium IMO.

Personally, no, it's an illusion from volume and nice examples for the grade fly off the shelves at their prices while sliders sit for a long time.
